For my final class project in my M&A class, my team and I have to come up with a real life M&A situation and do a complete analysis of the transaction - who will buy who, valuation, synergies analysis, deal structure - how will the acquisition be financed (cash / stock), accretion-dilution analysis, post-merger integration issues etc.

Do you guys have any suggestions on M&A transactions that we should consider? --> Ex: Apple buys Tesla, Nike buys Under Armour, Comcast buys Netflix, Chicken buys Twitter etc.?

Id like to see google buy tesla. Apple or Google would be great, but id prefer google. I think Tesla has the biggest lead in electric but their finances are shite, thats literally their only problem, financials. Google or Apple would solve that. I would love to see google collaborate with tesla on a product.

Anheuser Busch is buying Miller. Or is in the talks. I'm not really familiar with it but it's something you could look into.

I had a thought that, after a little digging, turned out to have some very subtle rumors:

Amazon buying Netflix

It seems like Amazon is trying to carve their way into that area with Amazon Video and now Amazon Music. Could be an off the wall idea that would make your project stand out.

There was a bunch of big agricultural and oil and gas mergers that happened recently.

I suggest doing it on something you know a little about and like.

I always thought AAPL should have bought NFLX -- however the stock just rallied another 20% aftermarket.

But in all seriousness (as someone who just finished bschool and had to do similar projects), find something that you find interesting, but not overly complex. Don't make your life harder than it needs to be. Look at some consumer products companies and maybe some industrials as well.

JetBlue buying out Spirit.
The only 2 domestic airlines left that haven't been bought out or merged. With the exception of Allegiant but no one wants them.
Also they both operate Airbus aircraft so the transition could be much smoother.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Some good ones here.

My teammates are not very familiar with the oil and gas or energy industries. So we will probably pick a deal that's tech or consumer oriented. The airline one is intriguing too.

My humble advice for this project is to make it as simple as possible for the two companies. You don't want to have to model by segment for AMZN, unless the teacher doesn't care about that level of granularity and you can get away with basic I/S assumptions. So while something like Office Depot buying Staples isn't exciting, it would be a hell of a lot easier and you would spend less time spinning your wheels.

Arguably the biggest deal ever is on the horizon for 3G.

ABI + Coca-Cola

This is likely a few years out given ABI just bought SABMiller.

I would look into then farm side - with prices dropping, a company like CF could be in play for a company that wants to diversify.

The AG bubble coming will create significant M&A opportunity.
