Capital one checking

I was thinking about opening a capital one checking account as a result of the whitney/hancock deal (can't bank in la now because my whitney account was in ms) and was wondering what was the money board's opinion on capital one checking?

I was with Hibernia for years before Capital One bought them out so I just kept my checking account and safe deposit box there. There are no fees except $25 a year to keep a line of credit attached to the checking account. Lots of ATM locations and most of the employees from Hibernia stayed on. I'm satisfied.

I like cap one a lot. they have a pretty good online savings that is easy to set up and pays 1% which is better than most. and they have a couple of bad arse lsu debit cards to choose from

Thanks for all the replies. I was interested in maybe getting a credit card to use for gas and emergencies. I probably should of gotten a credit card a long time ago but I basically scared myself into doing everything to stay out of debt (even though I'm not a big spender).
A capital one checking and credit card combo looks like a good choice right now. Thanks again for the reples.

same here. I've been with hibernia/cap1 for over 6 years. i like them just fine. they don't quite have the feel that a small bank or credit union does, however I have never had any problems with them. i am a tech person so i like there online site plus there phone apps are decent as well.
