Is it worth it or not? I want a luxury vehicle, and have looked at some used ones. Good buy or bad buy?

I would like to get an 07 Bentley (runs $60k-$73k)

That is quite a lot of money for a soon to be 9 model year old vehicle. Does it even have the luxury and technology of newer cheaper "luxury" cars?

To me luxury is driving a brand spanking new vehicle where all the gadgets work and are covered by warranty if they don't. I also feel safer with all latest safety features, something that many older cars, even luxury ones, are lacking.

For the wife, we prefer to buy used luxury vehicles. They typically have been well taken care of. That said, my idea of luxury is vastly different than yours.

I would think an 8 year old vehicle like that would be incredibly expensive to maintain

Why in god's name would you spend nearly-new Mercedes S-Class money on an almost decade old vehicle?

Buying a 3 year old Mercedes or bmw is fine; I would only lease a new one. Buying a 9 year old Bentley is asinine.

I've owned one Porsche and a couple of Jags, in addition to however many other money pits I've bought. And I've looked at a number of other Porsches and even a couple of Ferraris over the years. Older luxury cars, sports cars and even most exotics depreciate like stink. So yeah, they can be had for a fraction of their "as new" price. As an example, the Ferrari 328 that I almost bought for $35k was in need of a $20k plus service call. And that wouldn't include any incidentals or accidentals that might be found. The parts and service on all of the Euro sports cars and Q ships are outrageous, unless you're pals with Wayne Carini. These things will drain your wallet, so you have to understand that going in. I wish I'd developed a steady coke habit instead of a car addiction.

Me personally, I'd be more inclined to buy something that was 25+ years old, that might have some collector value now or soon, rather than dump money in a recent hand me down that won't be worth what you pay for it plus what you'll have to put in it. But now, if you can get it for a steal and you KNOW what you'll have to do to it (and you're still ahead of the game), hell, go for it.

People that don't know the difference will be impressed. The ones who do will laugh at you. If you want to act the part, pull the trigger. After all, the only people who won't believe the act will be the people you're trying to imitate to all the people who aren't them-including you-anyway.

No unless you are OT rich(it doesn't matter then), you will be frowning every time you need maintenance, repairs and finding replacement parts.

No

Is there a reputable Bentley mechanic/technician in your area? Get ready to pay $200 an hour for labor, parts will be ridiculously high.

Every time you need a replacement part(s), you are going to have wait several days, maybe even a few weeks to get them.

They can be serviced at most VW dealers.
