I live in Louisiana and see inventory in Texas that interests me.

If I bought a vehicle in TX, will I pay sales taxes in both TX and LA?

I believe you only pay in the state that you register it at the time of the sale? How would they know if it's a Texas registered vehicle if the vehicle was actually sold in Texas or sold in Louisiana?

You'll just pay LA taxes. Depending on the dealer or seller, you should be able to just pay the sales price of the vehicle to the dealer. Then you have 30 days to register, title, and pay the taxes in Louisiana.

Did this in October without any issues. Just make sure you get the documents that the LA DMV requires.

Just did this. Dealer collected all money then sent all paperwork and funds to my local DMV. I showed up, signed a few papers and walked away with my registration. Easy

ETA: just Louisiana taxes
