Hello,

I've applied to over 100 operator/contractor/trainee jobs with no luck.
Proof:

Pic removed

The picture says out of 81 rejection letters but those are the ones who had decided to respond. I have been on 6 interviews and have not been offered. Each interview I have been told, it boiled down to me not having any plant experience. I have a PTEC degree as of May 2015 and the vast majority of my work experience comes from higher education administration. I know there are some posters here on TD who are in management/hiring either with the major refiners/chemical companies or contractors. I am drug free, have TWIC, Basic Plus, and am willing to do anything within a plant to get the required experience: floor technician, hole/bottle/fire watch, scaffold-building, sandblasting, painting, etc. Can anyone help?

I don't know shite and I've worked in 10-12 plants as a pipe fitter. Do you know any welders? Be their helper on a pipeline. Good experience and honestly, better than average money. Most of those jobs are out of state.

Get to know the local CONTRACTORS. It's hard to start off working FOR the plant.

Ohmstede
ISC
Performance
Turner
CBI <-- ugh...

These contractors, and more, will get you IN the plant as a pipe fitter, iron worker, boilermaker. It's not glamorous, but you'll make $6k/month. Make connections, work hard, there's your plant experience, move up.
