Shopping for a 30 Year Fixed... PenFed looking strong thus far.

Know of an institution with No origination fee, low closing costs, decent rates?

Thanks!

My current mortgage is with Penfed and I've been happy with them.

I have a HELOC and CC with them and love their customer services... Not liking the Origination Fee and Closing Costs though

I have limited experience with mortgages ( only having 4 in my life) but no fees usually is made up with a little bit of a higher rate.

Try Whitney. I think I am going to use them for a HELCO. I would steer clear of wells fargo at all cost.

One thing that often gets overlooked is whether or not the lender allows re-casting or re-amortization. That was my #1 priority the last time I was looking for a mortgage. Being able to lower your monthly payment w/out refinancing is a great thing to have in your back pocket, assuming you make extra principle payments.

Penfed can be misleading to the average consumer.

They have a 1% origination in addition to standard flood, appraisal and credit report costs that still apply. Their offering of 3.5% 30 yr fixed requires a 740 score and 30% down.

They would charge $2500(for a $250k loan) plus other minimal charges. My costs would be about $1500 less. Local bank in LA and same rate. 3.5/3.625% rate can be had with 20% down or less (not 30% they assume)

Eustis Mortgage. 60 year old Louisiana company that does the whole loan process in house. No origination.

Check out the mortgage lenders that advertise on Zillow.

I went with New Penn Financial several years ago and enjoyed my experience. I only paid $995 for closing cost and received a 2.875 % rate, no points.

whitney bank flat $925 charge no origination no discount points. Appraisal paid up front . loan amounts above 225k with 740 score are getting 3.5% on 30yr. I locked a 3.375% on a 30yr last week for a customer. go local and safe yourself some time. call you local whitney they will refer you to an originator.

They are not a broker. They are a direct lender with underwriting, processing etc all handled in house.

Some are kept in house but most are sold after closing.
