Does it matter that I bank with capital one?

Would it better to cancel a credit card or just let it sit with a 0 balance? I have a discover card that I have used maybe 3 times in the past 3 years and would rather get an American Express

No, your bank is irrelevant. The chase slate is great for this because it has a 0% balance transfer fee, while the industry standard is 3%. There is no interest on the balance for 15 months.

Checkout the Frontier MasterCard. They give you airline points for balance transfers. SO FEW will do that.

They'll also give you 40,000 miles for spending just $500 in just THREE MONTHS!

I thought you said you didn't like it because it only comes out to one free flight instead of two?

Still a good deal, and a rare offer for a balance transfer!

I was just disappointed...I still might be wrong about that too. I haven't called.

You've got a three year history...that's significant if you're young. Keep it if you need that kind of credit history.
I've got 8-10 credit cards. Haven't used some in years. No harm done.

Do the Chase Slate card. Best balance transfer offer out there.

As an aside, there is no way in hell I'll ever fly on Frontier Airlines.
