Best credit card for 23 yr old, almost out of school

Let me preface this by saying this is my first trip to the money board in my ~7 years here.
I finish my bachelors in December, not exactly sure where I'm going from there. Currently work in construction on the days I don't have class and will likely to that for a few months post-graduation while I figure things out
I do have some student loans that I haven't started paying on yet, so I'm not sure if having a credit card would help my credit score much at all until I start on them. I do have a personal loan I've taken out before and paid on time.
My question is, what is the best credit card for someone in my situation who wants to use it for gas and other purchases and pay it off at the end of each month? I feel like there's too many rewards and cash back options I'm missing out on by only using my checking account

It will probably be hard for you to get a credit card from a bank. I'd get a cabelas, bass pro, (whatever you enjoy) credit card and build credit. Always pay it off every month. GL

You can get a secured credit card where you pay a refundable deposit that is usually the same amount as the line of credit you want. Use that for a little while to build credit, then you can probably get another card with better rewards later on.

I assume in regards to the cash back, they send a check at the end of the quarter or year?

What's the difference in that and a other card like discover student?
Just easier to get?

go to creditcards.com and utilize their credit match tool. It won't affect your credit and will give you a good idea of what you may be able to get approved for.
If your parents have good credit, they could put you as an authorized user on one of their accounts. That would help you as you build your credit.

Thanks. I'll check that site out tonight. I was also checking out amazon's credit card as I use prime a ton. Not sure if I'd get approved for that though

Discover card is great for this. You'll probably get a small limit of around $500 at first and just make sure you pay it off. They have a cashback program that can get you up to 5% on promotional purchases, and cashback rewards can be used to directly purchase items on Amazon. Very simple to sign up for and use - and you won't have to worry about any point conversions.

This gave me a huge jump start on my credit. Very thankful.

It's almost an instant way of boosting credit history, age, and score. I know that discover and Amex report authorized users to credit bureaus as if they were the primary card holder. Available credit, credit limit, and age of account all get factored in to your credit score, which helps tremendously when establishing credit.
