and a second price that guarantees the item will be shipped to one's home within 24 hours (ideally 12 hours) that resembles online pricing.

I like what you posted except this should be tweaked out to 2 days. Amazon will get it to you in 2 days with Prime. The people will just wait for a day instead of buying it in store at BB. The 2 day wait could make those folks who want it now to move on the purchase.

But I get the other things you posted. They have to reduce overhead and employees in the B&M stores if they want to stay afloat. More knowledge and information available in-store by the staff.

That defeats the purpose if you keep the same store footprint. The idea is to limit the square footage and hold less inventory/quicker turnover.

I get that, I have a little more info that would make it more clear what I'm saying but I'm not putting it on here.

Fair enough.

I have worked for companies that do exactly as you are describing. In particular, they have some B&M stores that have a mini-DC component built into them. Those larger store models then service the smaller stores in the area.

The reason for the 12 hours is that 2 days is the status quo now, but it will soon be 1 day. BB needs to beat the market - not go into parity with it.

Walmart does something similar.

You can go online and buy everything you want as a pick up today order. When the order comes through the system someone at the physical Walmart store has to go and get those items off the shelf. Basically you don't have to shop anymore but just walk in and pick up your order.

They also have site to store where you order online, item shipped to store, youick up.

No more standing in line or dealing with other customers.
