I currently have a personal account with Whitney/Hancock, but I've heard they aren't quite as business friendly. I haven't looked into it too much at this point yet, but what are some things I need to consider when opening a business account?

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Any particular reasons? They were actually one of my first choices. Them and Gulf Coast Bank and Trust.

I simply use them because they have branches wherever I need one. Truth is if you are looking for loan support and such a local community bank may be better or use creditera.com.

Something to consider on a small business loan...

Whitney just offered me a refi on my building 4.25% 15 year fixed. That's a pretty good deal in the commercial world, one that I am considering. I prefer small community banks, in my area the Northshore, Resource bank has taken excellent care of me for many years.

It depends on your location and needs NOLA will be way different than lake Charles. If you need someone to make an aggressive loan, small banks will trump big banks. If you need great banking features, big banks are better.

Was it owner occupied? Are they paying for your closing costs?

If you need a strong online features and will be accepting credit cards, Chase is your best bet.

If you need a business loan, not Chase. unless you've been in business for at least 2 years and have very strong cash flow.

No on owner occupied, will pay closing costs on up to 1% of the loan.

The blind recommendations in these threads always kill me.

A 5 branch bank in the Houma area only? The CEO lists his MLS number on his profile? This seems real legit. Probably the perfect bank for someone in Shreveport.

Whitney has some serious employee morale issues related to its merger with Hancock. It is not as good as it once was for local businesses.

Didn't say it was, but that offer is pretty strong for me it would save me well over 100K, I am strongly considering it as the savings may be just too much to pass up.

I completely agree every person I have known that worked at Whitney isn't there anymore. Seems to be a lot of unhappy people there. However it also appears that things may be getting a bit better there.
