Anyone here have bad service with them? I've never filed a claim with them, just poor customer service. I added my wife's ring to an additional policy last year and i recently found out it was not renewed because it was not paid for. Well what was i supposed to do, call and ask to pay for it? I never received an email or letter for the renewal. I emailed my agent about a quote for boat insurance. I had to call him back and send him three emails before his assistance sent a lump some quote via email with no terms and conditions, just a price. I replied back and asked her what was the coverage and she said she would have to ask their underwriter for an explanation and i have never hard back from them.

I should not have to be asking for quotes and explanations, correct? Should i change agents or shop for someone else all together?

Farm Bureau has some good employees in my rural area - only negative I have ever heard is the membership fee.

Shelter Insurance has been rock solid as well in my area. Good agent and good service.

A buddy of mine - his dad recently passed. Farm Bureau and New York Life walked up at the same time and delivered policy checks to the widow. No BS, no issues - just prompt delivery of check. That holds both them in high regards with me.

Sounds like you got a shitty agent...I'd shop around.

Sounds like you have an agent problem. The Louisiana Farm Bureau claims folks are usually pretty easy to work with.

Shop around for another agent before you bail.

Only negative issue I had was they would not accept me cancelling my auto insurance when I changed to a different company. The agent wouldn't return my calls, letters would go unanswered. The only way I was able to get a response was when they sent me to collections 2 years later. I was able to show I tried to cancel numerous times, and had new insurance with no lapses. Still took several months for them to "reconcile my account". I was freaked out for a few years after that I would have a flag on my license or a negative mark on my credit.

I’ve been with them for 2 years and never had a claim. Dumb question but can I ask to change agents?

Sounds like an agent problem. I deal with various carriers quite a bit on the claims side, and I think Farm Bureau is among the best as far as looking out for their insureds’ interests.

You expect us believe this? With no report of the death, No Death Certificate, No Claim Forms signed by beneficiary , Nothing? Just a widow getting a death claim check? I would be pissed if my company was this reckless.

Why should you do the work for your agent? Find another insurance company.

Monday, call your office and speak to the agency manager. Ask him to re-assign your file. Should not be a problem. Was done all the time in my 20 years there.

Its a running joke in my family.

I dont mind the fee. Its that you have to pay it separately. The premiums auto draft. So, I always end up forgetting and the local office calls me.

Ive even told them i would sign something allowing them to auto draft it. Nope, cant do it.

It angers me much more than it should.

Found the problem. Boats make them nervous.

Can you point out where he said no report of Death, No Death cert, no claim forms signed? Did you really read that and think none of that was taken care of?

Had them back in college. Got in a wreck and when I went to file a claim they said I didn’t have coverage because I didn’t pay my membership fee. I asked them why they kept auto drafting my account for the last 4 months if I didn’t have coverage and why they didn’t just draft the membership fee out. They didn’t respond but just sent me back the last four months of payments they had drafted out instead of letting me pay the $5 membership fee, or whatever small amount it was, and covering the claim.

Been with Farm Bureau since the 70s. Thought about switching a couple times but all companies will have issues or not so great employees at times (see Covid employees today- ). They have done me no wrong since 70s. Maybe there's some one better out there but I had no true reason to switch.
