I got an offer from Shell as a process technician/operator.

I was wondering about pay progression.

The starting rate per hour is kinda low...I was wondering when one might get top pay at the position? I'd be taking a $10.00/hr paycut if I accept and I really need to know how long my family will be eating eat beans & rice?

Your age? Have you checked into their 401K plan? What about overtime, to makeup the cut?

I once took a paycut, but in the long run it was the best move I ever made.

I'm 35 and their benefits package & savings plans are by far better than what I have currently. And yes there will be opportunity for OT.

What plant? Norco? Geismar. If u are currently working for a contractor, you should definitely take it. Way more stability and benefits.

In the long run, it may be better to move now(At 35 years old). Medical, Dental, 401K plans add up to a ton of money. Best of luck.
