Good luck.

I'm just waiting on my certificate and my number before I actually start calling myself a CPA

Just signed up for a couple more exams. I've been putting this shite off for a while now, time to finally break through.

Did you guys start studying for the exam during your last semester or did you wait until graduation and just hammer it out? really not looking forward to this

I waited until after graduation but a lot of my friends took 3 hours their last semester of graduate school and used the extra time to take the exam. Either way, the only thing that really matters is once you pass the first one you have to keep going or you'll risk losing credit. I need to pass REG (taking 8/27) and FAR by 3/9/16 or I lose credit for AUD.

Honestly, I got a job about 6 months out of college and haven't needed it to keep moving up, but I want those damn letters behind my name.

Taking Reg tomorrow.

I feel I will be prepared for the MC portion and I am just brushing up on business law right now.

Sims are going to be brutal. If i don't pass, I would imagine it is because of them.

I find out September 10th.

I'm studying audit right now. The simulations are giving me more trouble than the MC. I'll definitely have to spend extra time on them as I inch closer to my test date.

I'm taking BEC tomorrow. Have passed AUD & REG. Got a 73 on BEC when I took it a couple months ago. I'm feeling pretty good about tomorrow.

Taking FAR in November.

I had a job before I graduated with my Accounting degree so I waited a little while after graduation before I took my first exam.

My career has turned in such a way that I don't really need a CPA anymore, but it wasn't going that way before I passed the first part I passed so I figured I'd stick with it. The job situation has just taken all the pressure out of it.

Took audit on the 27th, now it's time to prep for FAR at the beginning of October. Hopefully the Sept 10 grade release gives good news!

Agreed.

Why are you taking FAR so soon? Are you taking multiple exams each testing window?

I'm doing Becker review through my masters program, they put the timing requirements on us. We do audit at the end of Aug, FAR beginning of Oct, REG beginning of Nov, and BEC at the end of Nov lol. It's definitely a cram session.

Damn, there are a bunch of people taking or already took these exams and classes in this thread. So many CPAs on the way, is there plenty of room in this field? Just wondering as flat tax, etc has been floated by politicians, that would change everything in this field, eh? I wish I knew more about taxes though.

That is insane. Hopefully it works out for you.

It's strange that they started with Audit. Most review courses suggest starting with FAR. It's also completely bogus that they put FAR & REG back-to-back. You will be extremely tired of tidying after that stretch.

Is your grade tied to how well you do on the CPA exams, or is there another grading mechanism for the class?

There is a huge need for Accountants right now. I had no problem finding a job even without my CPA.

Not really. I think most CPAs would welcome a flat tax system. Tax accounting may be the most visible accounting to the general public, but the accounting field is much larger than just tax.

Fwiw, I haven't talked to an accountant yet that thinks flat tax is a possibility, and I work for the government .

That being said, none of the stuff I do right now or in the future will have anything to do with flat taxes. I specialize in the fun taxes that nobody knows anything about... EXCISE!!!!!
