with no tune-up game the week before, a privilege which State was granted.

We had a long pass on 2nd & 21 ruled incomplete despite Dupre getting his arms underneath the ball... we had a 90 yard jet sweep wiped out on a holding call... and we had another TD pass get called back by a penalty.

A lot of mental mistakes in the first live action we've seen since January.. but quite a bit more to build on. Harris looks extremely polished and equipped to lead this offense. Fournette is bigger, faster, and stronger than last year. Our receivers running crisp routes and beating press coverage. Arden Key is a future All-American. Beckwith is an All-American this year and Tre White, Kevin Tolliver(!!!), Jamal Adams, and Rickey Jefferson are the best secondary in the nation, bar none.

Chill the fck out. We are hosting a team that needed a last-minute TD drive to pull even with Jacksonville State... then a long line of tune-up games leading into November.

I had a want to chill the f out by about the third quarter ... but, noooooo.

Had to sit on pins & needles, rupture an ulcer, develop another one, drink to excess, and chain smoke ... until finally Moo St. f'ed up, blew an easy 2-pt conversion, took a stupid penalty, shanked a 50+ practice kick one way, and then shanked another 50+ FG the other way as time expired with the GD GAME ON THE LINE.

But, yeah ... it's cool to chill the F out now.

Which game, as fans should we focus our attention on?

Auburn - 27-20 OT v. Jack St.
Syracuse - Scrub team who lost their starting QB lost for the year
E. Michigan - ???
W. Kentucky - ???
S. Carolina - lost to Kentucky this weekend
Florida - struggled against E. Carolina

The only teams I'm truly worried about at this point are Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

RE: Pass plays being checked out of. I will put a few pieces of information together here.

Tom Luginbill reported from the LSU sidelines Saturday Night as part of the SECN's coverage of LSU vs. MSU. At one point, he reported that all checks and line calls were being made for BH6 from the sideline and the booth.

What's confusing here is that if the booth is calling a pass play 11 more times, that's 35 or so for the game. Are you telling me that-leaving aside scrambles, sacks, etc-someone from the sidelines or the booth is then checking out of almost a full third of those passes into runs?

I find it hard to believe that we're checking 33% of our passes to runs based on a secondary that gave up 311 yards last week to USM who threw it 44 times.

Beyond that, consider we faced 8 men in the box almost exclusively all night versus State. Do you mean to tell me that with 8, 9 or 10 men in the Box and a pass play called from the sideline that the sideline's then going to turn around and check to a run?

Look I'm not here to accuse coaches of being liars, but look at this objectively...At a bare minimum WTF is going on on the sidelines? Checking to runs vs. a stacked box? Checkout of a third of your pass plays into those runs?

It doesn't seem to make any sense. I'm not drawing conclusions. I'm just saying the information and logic behind what we're being told doesn't make sense.

You realize that means nothing coming into this week right???? LSU should beat AU rather easy, BUT its a rivalry game and AU is not as bad as you are making them out to be.....

So they should NOT even play these games and automatically give LSU a 7-0 record?????

Jeremy Johnson is completely clueless and is going against an elite secondary this weekend. Worse still, Auburn hasn't been able to get their running game going so far this year and will be running into the teeth of Godchaux, Lacotoure, and Beckwith. LSU is playing at home and looking to avenge last year's 41-7 beatdown.

And yes, I am not concerned about Alabama. They allowed Middle Tennessee to hang around wayyyy too long despite holding a 3-0 turnover advantage early in that game. Their secondary is still extremely suspect and their front seven isn't as good as billed. On the other side of the ball, their entire offense falters if you manage to stop Henry. I firmly believe that Alabama loses to Ole Miss this weekend, as well as several other games down the stretch.

Agree with every word of this. In fact, your original post mirrors my thoughts exactly, but kudos to you for taking the time to post. I thought about posting something similar multiple times on Sunday, but I'd read all of the crap being spewed here and lose interest.

It'd be like explaining quantum physics to a four year old.

I just wouldn't sleep on the three. Should LSU take care of each game with easy? Yes. But, we also should have beaten Miss St. by 10-14 pts and that didn't take place.

I believe it is scientifically proven that reading tRant within 36 hours of kickoff will give you an ulcer... I try to avoid it for the remainder of the weekend whenever possible.
