You don't need a complex offense to win, but at least disguise it a little

It's obvious that our offense is ridiculously simple this year. Yet, it's not like other successful college offenses are really that complex. If you've been around the spread you know that the offense revolves around a pretty simple base group of plays. They don't take a ton of time to install at all (I think A & M and Rich Rod's O take a little over a week to put in). Auburn doesn't really even run the ball that many different ways.

The difference with these offenses is that they dress up their basic plays a ton of different ways through formations and motions. We all know that Jennings blows, and that it's not wise to put the game all in his hands. This year we really did need a heavy commitment to the running game. We just don't need a commitment to the 2 TE 1 WR I formation to execute that plan. A few different formations/motions could make the D have to think for that extra half second to give our beastly RB's some more free space.

Well, so could a basic functional passing game, but a basic functional QB is required for that first.

LSU's QB and fullback literally signal to tell the defense what gap the running play is going to

You don't even need to disguise it.

Just need to execute both the run and pass.

CLM said that the offense is getting better, and I trust him because he is the best coach that Saban owns.

How could you possibly know how long they take to install their offense?

Simple.....you need a QB with "a pocket presence". Nice feet and a coach willing to admit he made the wrong choice and change

We have neither

LSUs offense is so complex it took Mett two entire years in the program to run it well and at it's best the offense finished middle of the SEC pack.

LSU doesn't need a complex Offense to be effective, they just need an NFL ready quarterback, two NFL type receivers and an NFL ready RB, that's all, every college football team that can move the ball efficiency has these caliber type players right?

Yes we basically tell the defense where we will run it, even when there is 8-9 men in the box

Now, this week sucks for football but I am watching Samford, did I say SAMFORD just went up 7-0 to Auburn (Who beat us 41-7)...

Let me say this much Samford's offense is light years better than LSU's (Did I say SAMFORD?). This last drive they did some run plays out of the spread, counters, quick WR screens, RB screens, mixed up bunch formations that they would in 2 seconds audible into a 3 WR pattern then hold the TE like he was going to block and go across the field for a TD. If LSU ran that Samford offense we would have 1 loss, maybe max 2 and be right in the thick of things.

Here is to the creativity of Samford

Here is to LSU's offense, especially when the Fullback does the side step towards where the run is going, he can't just take off from a straight I-formation :banghead:

Arkansas did some creative things today. There was a jump pass that should have been caught for TD. Their little wrinkles can catch defenses off guard.

It's not a coincidence that Samford already scored as much as we did in a game against Auburn and that we've scored 23 points in the last 3 games.
