We were so close to a 1 loss record that is why there is optimism for the future provided the SEC QBs don't develop between this year and next. Healthy UF QB. Shawn White improves, Allen gets a running game i.e. Arky OLINE plays better, MSU gets a defense, who the hell knows what Ole Miss is going to be with Shae. He did look good at the end of the season. TAMU?
Right now I say we have as good of a shot as any IF some key players return and if we can get a couple LBs step up. I believe we will run some triple option FWIW to help take the pressure off of the QB e.g. 2 QB system maybe...

Is anyone saying we are different? Some are excited about the future but I don't see anyone saying we have a different record.

That's just Bill Parcell trying to make an absolute for effect, out of something that's not such an absolute i.e. 9-7 and wild card teams winning the Super Bowl.
He needs to leave the philosophy to the Platos, Nietzsches, and John McKays of the world.

we just didn't witness a team that wasn't as good as their record indicated, get annihilated in a semifinal game either.
I'm just going to say it - Edna Karr would have given tOSU a good game on Saturday.
