There have been numerous threads both bashing and praising our Tiger baseball team. Some say we "could have swept" Kentucky, or should have swept...others say we are just not good and will be lucky to host a regional.

Right now, we are 5-4 in SEC play. We are a 5-4 SEC team. Not particularly good or bad.

What can we draw from that:
(1) We are not great in SEC play, but not bad either;
(2) We have good pitching, but not dominant pitching;
(3) We have good offense, but not great offense;
(4) We can be clutch, but we also fail to make timely hits.

Anyone predicting anything for this team with any degree of specificity right now is full of it. We just don't know what we don't know.

Right now if you told me this team makes it to Omaha, I would not be surprised. If you told me they will not host a regional, I would be really surprised. That said, we just don't know.

Let this thing play out...anything else is just speculation and useless worry.

I think we lead the nation in hitting and top 10 in most offensive categories.

True, but I think we have a lot of lopsided games and attributes to that. We need to be able to beat crappy teams in the clutch. If we can't do that, then I don't see us getting past a regional. If we can advance to supers or omaha, then I think the coach needs to be replaced. The hitting problems have been since 2009. That's when the bats and balls changed and nothing was done to fix it. Finally last year we get rid of Javi, yet we have the same problems this year. Also, base running and bunting have forever been an issue with Maneri, so that needs to change as well.

Just my $.02.

3 of our 4 SEC losses are in extra innings.

We are garbage.

The thing I've noticed about in season baseball posting on here is that you know right away whether or not someone has been following the team or just reading the score in the paper on the following day.

You sir, are the ladder.

What??

If i hear this comment one more time, I'm gonna lose it.

If you watch this team, they are SO more prepared at the plate then before.

we are second best in the SEC in stolen bases

I swear to God some of you must still be watching previous seasons and ignoring everything from this season. This is just unbelievable to read.

managing decisions have definitely cost us some games.

we are a great team and will be moving forward.

how can you say it's not a great offense when LSU had the highest team batting average in the ENTIRE nation?

I agree with your general point, this team is way too good to be 5-4.

Our offense is elite though.
