That could have been a no call.

you have got to be kidding me. i can't see where that would ever not be called.

regardless of who called the play or who executed it, the result was huge. it kept their drive alive that eventually resulted in a field goal.

It's all Miles' fault. He doesn't tell his players not to run into the kicker in practices.

No doubt Prom. Didn't you see him on the sidelines after that saying "Goddamn it I knew we forgot something last week Joe! Write that down. We'll get 'em next time."

the biggest problem with the punt block call was that we had no time outs left. it was risky. you can't really blame the coach for trying to take control and win the game.

it was also a crappy call too. Graff barely nicked the guy on the foot and he took a huge dive

i watched a lot of bama's games this year. and this isn't the first time their punter does a good acting job this season. he should be up for an oscar after the season.

I have no problem with rolling the dice and goingg for the block in that situation. If Graff blocks it that is a huge momentum swing and a) we might scoop and score on the play or b) get really good field position.

If he doesn't go for the block then we probably get the ball fair caught on our 10yd line and have to go 90yds against Bama with our back up qb and rb. I like the call A LOT.

Just didn't work out in our favor.

Why the hell isn't anyone calling out Less Miles on the damn punt block call a few plays earlier when we were getting the ball back!!!!! I think that was more important because we never would have had to depend on the fricking refs!!!

what????

it was a great call, imo. The guy got a clean run at the punter, and prob should have blocked it.

Because it was a GREAT call, it just wasn't executed properly by the player. If it had worked, you would be the first one on here hugging Les Miles' nuts and proclaiming him to be the Mad Hatter.

didn't look like a punt block call at all. looked to me like a breakdown in Bama's scheme and Graff just didnt make the play

watch the replay, somebody came off the gunner at the snap, that was a called block.

is a routine move and rarely results in a block because the distance is too great for the punt blocker to get to the punter. it is really just to apply pressure and try to make the Punter hurry up his kick

usually a "called" punt block involves a stem or stunt on the inside of the formation with a load up on one blocker that results in a straight line shot at the punter from the middle of the formation. This stuff is seen on film and held in reserve for a big moment in the game. Graff's play was not really the time you want to try a called block attempt because of the down/distance, the time left and not having any time outs

You can see teams from HS all the way to the NFL routinely come off a gunner and try to trip up the blocking scheme and rush the punter's timing. I think graff just got too close and accidentally clipped the punter's foot.

Easily avoided mistakes and penalties that kill our opportunities is the MO of this team and has been for awhile.
