SIAP

quote:

In the final 10 minutes of the biggest game of LSU's season, Ben Simmons did not score a point. In the final 4:48 of a game that could have solidified the Tigers' shaky NCAA tournament hopes, the likely No. 1 pick in this year's draft did not attempt a shot. In the final 2:56 of a game billed as a duel between national player of the year candidates, college basketball's most coveted prospect never touched the ball beyond mid-court.

Rest of the story

no argument

I feel Ben needs to touch the ball every time on offense, cannot argue with Musberger on that point.

Ok, there must be a reason for this, this had to be by design right? No way a player of this caliber just happens to get left out of the game against the number 1 team in the country at crunch time with a chance to win?

We just let Quarterman do whatever he wanted.

Offense was terrible yesterday, especially in the 2nd half.

JJ will be blamed for this, when it was clear to anyone watching that Ben didn't want the ball.

I saw this last year on the HS TV games, Just seemed to disappear at times. Seem's not to have a killer instinct. Too young, maybe too immature to grasp the reality of the situation, or just trying to get thru this "waste of time" on his way to the NBA.

what you and these national publications fail to take into account is that SIMMONS CAN'T SHOOT THE BALL!

Yes, he is a great player, but he is not a player in whose hands you want to put the ball with the game on the line.

Great defender, yes. Great rebounder, yes. Great at put backs, yes. Great passer, yes. But great shooter, NO!!!

There is a reason Jalyn Patterson hit the game winner for Montverde in the National Championship game two years ago and not Ben Simmons.

There were at least three Tigers open on that last play.

Smart moves by Jones, if the team was successful this year, expectations would be raised for the future, and then when the team sucked after Simmons et al. left he would be in danger of losing his job. He's learned from Miles about the importance of keeping expectations low.

Which is the one thing that will keep him from being a superstar.

Like I've said all yeah..HE'S TOO DAMN PASSIVE AND doesn't give a shite about the success of this LSU team.... If he did, he'd be demanding the ball when it comes down to crunch time. It's sad to watch really

Posted this in the other thread but will post again here

What we have is a durant westbrook scenario.

While skill sets are very different Simmons like Durant doesnt have that alpha dog demand the ball gene. Most talented player on the court though.

TQ like Westbrook (though obviously less talented) is fearless late in the game. While they are going 100 miles an hour trying to create people get mad because they arent passing it to the guy standing still on the other side of the court when theres <2min left.

And you sir, know nothing about basketball if you can't obviously see our coach sucks arse and shouldn't even be coaching a Div. 1 school. I do agree with you that Simmons is not a very good shooter. But if you can't see that JJ is a horrible coaching then you are blind as a bat.

Not true! Simmons inbounded the ball on the LSU side of mid-court coming out of LSU's last timeout!
