Too many people have their head in the sand about Simmons. His consistent lack of effort really screwed LSU this season.

Averaging 19 pts and 12 rebounds with a consistent lack of effort is quite impressive, don't you think?

I love that Benson has to take the fall because Tim Quarterman decided to shite on the month of February to make a point about not getting to handle the ball all the time and not having the green light on all shots no matter how ridiculous.

Check out his Game Log and tell me who wasn't giving effort.

up for debate IMO. If he's really that gifted and already NBA ready, he probably could have coasted to those numbers.

He has extremely great vision and ball handling abilities. Great atheleticism.

Didn't posses killer instinct, and much like ther rest of the team, when things were good, they played hard on both ends. When the running game struggled, the defense lacked, which is pretty much inconsistent to me. Very few blocked shots and never saw som many uncontested layups and dunks against an LSU team. But yeah, he stayed at 19/12/5 all year.

He could have coasted to numbers that have never been put up until he did it this year? Lay the blame where it belongs: Quarterman for taking a month off to protest, Jones for not letting Ben be the primary ball handler on 75% of the possessions.

so you think he played all out each game?

the numbers are impressive, no doubt.....i'm not arguing that.

and Jones and Q were the main reasons I feel this TEAM struggled....but thats not what this thread was about.

I have no reason to believe a guy that finished 6th in the country in rebounding wasn't giving enough effort.

Simmons reach and wingspan is unimpressive for being 6'10".

Besides his lack of hustle on defense, that could be a reason why he lacks defensive presence in the paint.

He touches the ball 95%+ of possessions, and LSU's offense is known for 1-pass shot attempts. You do that 20 times a game, odds are Quarterman, Blakeney, Victor, Hornsby can knock jumpers down a quarter of the time.

When defending shots around the rim he doesn't go for blocks, he stands there for position on a high % rebounds following a miss. That's the recipe of padding stats.

He honestly reminds me of Chris Bosh minus the ability to shoot.
