I actually lived in Germany for a while (no, seriously) and, I shite you not, heard John Denver's "Country Road" at least 3 times a week. In Germany they have festivals all throughout the year in each town... they absolutely loved this song and played it every chance they had.
Anyone have a clue why?
Oh, and cool story bro

first time I heard the song in about 10 years was when i walked through the doors of the Hofbrauhaus in Munich.
And in Vienna, Austria they have line dancing to country music inside tents on Austria Day. weird.
The lead singer of the band was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt that read, "Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll" with an American flag guitar.
But the only English words he spoke were the lyrics of the songs.

No shite! All of the music they played and listened to seemed to be completely random, except for this song. I could never figure out what the connection was.

I've heard that all over Southern Germany, from the Hofbrauhaus to every little village's bierfest......

It was already a thread about Germany so it's okay in this instance.

Was in Cologne last year and heard some Juice Newton at a Karoke night. LOVE Germany!
It was crazy b/c the only german song that people sang was the red baloon song from the 80's.
