I can't believe the lack of chest in this thread. LSU fans?? Joke.
We go 11-1 and win a major bowl or season is a loss. 8-4 is for the Aggies of the world.
Wake up!

I’m not sure, yet, that we’ll win 8 games - but if we do these 4 things this year I’ll consider it a successful season. Everybody wants to win every game but this is one year that I’ll give to the coaching staff to get their house in order. Next year and every year after I expect 9/10+ wins at a minimum also expect to be contending for playoff spots, SEC championships and National Championships.

Yes, but it has to be clear we are moving in the right direction.

I think everyone would be happy with 8-4 in the first year

I will be happy with a winning record in SEC play. That is my minimum.

Absolutely I would even be ok with 7-5 depending on how it played out. But I am sticking with my prediction of 9-3 because I think that is what the talent on this team is capable of.

LSU had ZERO business going .500 over the last two regular seasons. NONE. Only Georgia had more players taken (24) in the last two NFL drafts than LSU (17). Ed Orgeron becoming much more involved in the actual on-field approach was the SINGLE biggest reason for the debacles that were the last two seasons.

I'm not naive enough to think LSU has 2019 level talent on this particular team. But I also believe LSU's overall talent is still within the top 1/3rd of the league. Now, without a complete buffoon roaming the sidelines demanding to play defense like it was 1988 and hiring a pile of coordinators no one else in football wanted, anything less than 8-4 will be a disappointment. I wouldn't necessarily be "happy" with an 8-4 season. But it would be a bit easier to accept knowing there is optimism things would improve quickly with a HC who has a long history of winning.

If the things you mention happen we will win more than 8 games. We went 6-6 last yea with none of those things. Those things are worth lord than two wins.

I guess I'd have to be unless I decide to suit up and try-out for the team or apply to be a coach.

Beat the teams you’re supposed to beat, beat 1-2 teams you’re not supposed to beat, and be competitive in all losses.

8-4 doesn’t bother me. 7-5 does. 9-3 is fantastic.

I would add get to a bowl game and win it in convincing fashion - vs a quality opponent — showing promise for 2023 season

And I would tack on that we impress high schoolers and finish out recruiting with a bang to have a top 3 class, then yes 8-4 this year will do.

P.S. And we retain all our coaches and coordinators (no leaving for head coach jobs).
