Brownell's buyout is $3.5 million.

I suspect that's why they haven't fired him.

That's stupid. Wade would be a great hire.

I agree, just a shot at the Alleva mouth breathers.

But it's 3 mil for the next two seasons so no point worrying about 500K unless they're waiting for it to be nothing in 2020.

Like others, WW is not my numero uno choice, but he'd be a totally "Acceptable" hire if you consider who is doing the actual hiring.

Wade is young/energetic and may be able to get the lethargic, frustrated and "Craving for a Winner" LSU Basketball Fans actively involved and into the PMAC.

For those interested, this is his record as a HC.

2013-14 Chattanooga 18-15
2014-15 Chattanooga 22-10
2015-16 Virginia Commonwealth 25-11
2016-17 Virginia Commonwealth 26-9
Overall-91-45 (.669)

With Alleva's horrendously bad track record in hiring basketball coaches, LSU could do much worse.

Maybe he thinks he can have more long term success in the SEC. the ACC is a meat grinder, here year in and year out you just have to compete with U.K and UF.

A half-million bucks isn't nothing, and it might take some time to put together $3 million from the boosters to get rid of him.

It's also possible Wade might like the LSU job better. I might say Clemson is a better job than LSU, but on the other hand if we had North Carolina, Duke, Louisville, Florida State, Notre Dame, Miami and Syracuse in our conference I'd say the basketball coach is more or less on a suicide mission.

The rumor mill says that Wade had shown lots of interest in the job, even going so far as to say he had a pair of Top 100 recruits he felt he could lure to LSU in the spring signing period.

This guy's resume is non-existent. 2 yrs at VCU taking over a program that was already humming & 2 yrs at Chattanooga where they were as good or better before & after his tenure. He'd be a great fallback option but definitely shouldn't be #1 target.

The love affair with this guy on this board is completely unfounded.

No but 3 million vs 3.5 million isn't much difference for a big athletic department probably coming off their best revenue year ever.

Possible but with Clemson being his alma mater it's unlikely. Unless he just fell in love with Shaq as a youth.

It's not.

Clemson is among the 5 worst P5 jobs. People like their alma maters but they like money and winning more, (I guess it's P6 in basketball with the Big East)

I rank the worst P5 jobs, in no order,

Clemson
Texas Tech
Washington State
Minnesota
Mississippi State

Point is that job isn't open, and there is no evidence at this point indicating it will be.

And now is the time for Wade to move, because he's going to be rebuilding next year. They lose six seniors, including Lewis and Alie-Cox. His recruiting class is pretty good, but not so much that those freshmen can be expected to outperform the seniors they replace.

So he can move now, or he can move two or three years from now. If LSU's offering to pay him $2 million or more he's not going to wait on Clemson.

You lying sack of shite

THe two years before Wade

6-12 second to last in conference

8-10 third to last in conference

Wade comes in

12-4. 2nd in conference

15-3. 2nd in conference

You see the huge turnaround?

Wade leaves

15-3 in conference

10-8 in conference

You see the slide?

Rutgers, Northwestern, Nebraska, Oregon St. are all worse than Clemson. Rutgers might be running the worst athletic department in collegiate sports history right now.

Absolutely. Would be a vast improvement...although that is not saying much.

In this instance, I would be more than satisfied.
