Didn't think about this before, but since Sugar gets first replacement, don't you think an undefeated or 1 loss ND would be an attractive replacement, even over the traditional SEC tie in??

As bad as that would seem to suck, it might actually be cool to see LSU possibly head to another BCS game, possibly the Fiesta to play an undefeated or 1 loss K-State.

All of this is assuming LSU and Bama wins out obviously, and FSU beats Florida. I think LSU would be the most attractive 2 loss SEC team between us, UF, who would have lost their last game of the season, and Georgia, who would have also lost their last game in the SECCG.

What does everyone think about our possible bowl scenarios??

Well obviously if it makes it back to the Sugar, I think they would surely take an SEC team against ND.

But if they take ND first, Rose and Fiesta get to choose before they get a second pick.

I assume Rose Bowl would pick Oregon St./USC/Stanford to play Nebraska to keep the Pac 12 Big 10 matchup. And if not, I could see them pulling OU to match them up with Nebraska, which would get a lot of excitement to renew that rivalry.

Fiesta would be next, and I just don't see any other at large teams going over LSU/UF/UGA. I think they'd love a KState SEC matchup.

That would keep Sugar from taking both ND and LSU.

This is a fricking stupid question. The Sugar Bowl has to take an SEC school, they're locked in. They CANNOT take 2 SEC schools. ND over LSU is not even a possibility.

There is however a very strong probability that they take ND AND LSU.

Yes, they would take ND over the Tigers. Best case scenario, as earlier stated, for the two to play each other.

What the frick are you talking about bitch???

The SEC does NOT have to take an SEC school if they lose the SEC Champ, which they would with Alabama being #1.

If they lose their SEC Champ, they can take ANY at large school they want. Generally, yes, they take another SEC school.

That's why I asked the question, with ND available, who is pretty much one of the most attractive bowl teams in the country, would they pass up the traditional SEC team.

So GFY and read up before talking shite bitch

Once again you are wrong. I already laid out why it is very unlikely that the Sugar will get a chance to take ND AND LSU.

If they take the SEC team as their replacement, ND will absolutely get snatched by the Rose or Fiesta.

If Sugar takes ND first, I think it's almost certain that the Fiesta will take the SEC at large before Sugar can pick again.

Once again, GFY chump

Not necessarily. If the SEC champion goes to the BCS Championship Game, the Sugar Bowl gets a replacement pick. While they traditionally take the highest ranked SEC team as their replacment, they are not obligated to do so.

Michigan vs. Virginia Tech last year!

I don't recall either of those schools being in SEC.

1998: Ohio State Florida State
1999: Ohio State Texas A&M

It is rare, but Sugar does NOT have to take an SEC at large if they lose the SEC Champ to BCSCG.

I think ND would make them strongly consider breaking that tendency.

so wrong

Sugar takes SEC champion if not in title game. Open season if SEC champ in title game

better luck next time

Sugar take 0-1 loss ND in a heartbeat over LSU

only way LSU sniffs Sugar is UF losing to FSU and UGA losing to Bama along with LSU winning out

When someone makes a statement like "that is a stupid freaking question" do not pay attention to them as they very possibly have no clue as to what respect is.

In my opinion there is no stupid question, ignore him.

You're right. I usually don't get so fired up but he just so so wrong.

For anyone who still doubts:

BCS Selection Procedure

quote:

Team Selection Procedures
The bowls will select their participants from two pools: (1) automatic qualifiers, all of which must be selected, and, (2) at-large teams, if fewer than 10 teams qualify automatically. The following sequence will be used when establishing pairings:

1. The top two teams in the final BCS Standings will be placed in the National Championship Game ("NCG").

2. Unless they qualify to play in the NCG, the champions of selected conferences are contractually committed to host selected games:

Atlantic Coast Conference-Orange Bowl
Big Ten Conference-Rose Bowl
Big 12 Conference-Fiesta Bowl
Pac-12 Conference-Rose Bowl
Southeastern Conference-Sugar Bowl

3. If a bowl loses a host team to the NCG, then such bowl shall select a replacement team from among the automatic-qualifying teams and the at-large teams before any other selections are made. If two bowls lose host teams to the NCG, each bowl will get a replacement pick before any other selections are made. In such case, the bowl losing the No. 1 team gets the first replacement pick, and the bowl losing the No. 2 team gets the second replacement pick. If the Rose Bowl loses both the Big Ten and Pac-12 champions to the NCG, it will receive two replacement picks.

(For the games of January 2011 through 2014, the first year the Rose Bowl loses a team to the NCG and a team from the non-AQ group is an automatic qualifier, that non-AQ team will play in the Rose Bowl.)

A bowl choosing a replacement team may not select any of the following:

A. A team in the NCG;
B. The host team for another BCS Bowl;
C. When two bowls lose host teams, then the bowl losing the number one team may not select a replacement team from the same conference as the number two team, unless the bowl losing the number two team consents.
4. After steps No. 1, 2 and 3 have been completed, any bowl with an unfilled slot shall select a team from the automatic qualifiers and/or at-large teams in the following order for the games played in 2007 through 2010:

A. The bowl played on the date nearest to the National Championship Game will pick first;
B. The bowl played on the date second-nearest to the National Championship Game will pick second;
C. The bowl hosting the game that is played in the time slot immediately after the Rose Bowl game will pick third.

The selection order noted in paragraphs A, B and C is as follows:
January 2011 games: Sugar, Orange, Fiesta
January 2012 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange
January 2013 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange
January 2014 games: Orange, Sugar, Fiesta

This pretty much GUARANTEES there can be no ND vs. LSU Sugar Bowl.

Also, knocks out the LSU vs FSU Sugar a lot of people were talking about wanting to see, including myself.

Based on all of that, I think LSU vs. K State in the Fiesta would be my top choice.

Second would be LSU vs. probably OU or Clemson in the Sugar.

hopefully the rose bowl chair remembers when the rumors that LSU was going in 2006(?) and 40000 ticket request from LSU fans happened overnight. I would love to see the tigers in the rose bowl.

Yeah, that would be badass.

Unfortunately with Nebraska likely going to Pasadena, I think they Rose would love to renew the OU Nebraska rivalry if they decide to break from the Pac/Big 10 matchup.

Fiesta Bowl against an unbeaten KState and Heisman Trophy winner would be a pretty nice way to celebrate New Years though

way i see it going down right now

assumption that Alabama and Oregon play for the title

Sugar gets first pick and goes for the national recognition of Notre Dame

Rose automatically takes the Big 10 Champ and gets second pick. They look for the best draw and invite the Florida Gators (assuming they win out)

Fiesta takes big 12 champ (lets say KSU) and then scopes the scene. Louisville doesnt bring any hype. Fiesta goes out the box and invites Oklahoma for the re-match

Orange automatically takes ACC Champ (presumably FSU) and slides into easy pick of Louisville

Sugar stuck there with a shite last pick. Sugar begs that Clemsonbeats USCe and can finish season with one loss

Title: Bama vs. Oregon
Sugar: Notre Dame vs. Clemson
Rose: Big 10 Champ vs. Florida
Fiesta: Big 12 Champ vs. Oklahoma
Orange: ACC Champ vs. Big East Champ

What about Bama losing to A&M. Then winning the SEC. Then Bama vs LSU rematch for the Sugar Bowl.

This won't happen.

Would be fun for us though.
