Well, there's that... and there's the numerous people making this a referendum on Mainieri's coaching career/abilities.

Damn right I have. And he deserves it. I call things as I see them. I'll take my lumps when I'm wrong (Bregman) and keep talking if I'm right (Chinea's defense). Get over it.

Well by all means

The painful irony of it. Its really quite a shame . Would you say any one of the 3 (baseball, basketball, football) are among the best in their particular fields when it comes to game day management ?

My biggest pet peeve with PM (beside the bullpen faux pas), is his obsession with righty/lefty match ups. This dude will pull Scivique and Foster in the 5th because a right handed reliever comes in, next inning the opposing coach, goes back to all left handed relievers & 2 of your best hitters are DONE for the day.

At least this thread is about PM and not Chi.

Parker Bugg needs a bigger role. He needs to be a long reliever for sure. And Chinea has no business being at 1st. He can't field worth a damn.

It really isn't hard to figure out. Game was on PM no doubt...

I don't fault some of CPM's decisions last night. Pinch running for Scivique, for example, was a gamble that just didn't pay off. Not a fan of gassing your closer for the rest of the series because you didn't want to let Bugg go longer.

Letting Poche try and work out of a jam after he was cruising the whole night wasn't a terrible decision, but he probably should have yanked him a bit sooner.

If you are going to do defensive substitutions late in a game, move Zardon to 1b and sit Chinea (third baseman type glove at 1b). Move Kramer Robertson to 2nd and put Foster in LF for Fraley. Foster has a cannon for an arm and can throw people out at the plate, plus you are keeping his bat in the lineup. Could also make an argument to move Foster to RF & put Laird in Left.

if nothing else he should have pulled poche one batter sooner is my biggest thing.

after he allowed the 9 hole hitter to tie the game.. and the lineup went back to the top of the order. he absolutely should have been pulled.. this was much after everyone else was saying poche was done.. poche then faced the top of the order who got the hit and the lead.

this game seem to be the worst managed imo.. and i am an actually a big CPM supporter. now of course this wasn't as significant as the houston game last season.. because of importance.. but to me this game was managed worse overall given different situations that continued on during the game.

What a very embarrassing statement to make as a head coach at LSU. You mean to tell me this kid has never bunted in little league or high school and now all of a sudden can't bunt at LSU?

That was his first error not based off a bad throw at 1st. He is batting .360 his last 5 games. But yall want a .256 hitter with 2 errors to play over him.

Problem was he didn't have a reliever warming at that time which goes back to what we've all been saying.

FWIW, just for clarity, nobody here is saying PM is a terrible coach & needs to be fired. He has some very good qualities. He recruits great players who are great kids. He develops his players, has zero issues with bad Apple/bad attitude guys (will run them off in a heartbeat). He is a great face for our program, a respectful man.
But this is an LSU sports forum & when you make questionable decisions, I personally like having knowledgeable people here who will take someone to task. How fricking boring would this place be if everyone here waxed on & pumped arse sunshine all day, even though they felt differently.

He's missed 4 picks and should have two errors. That "double" wasn't an easy play, but it was a 3-hopper almost right at him. But why give details right?

Want to compare this to the other hitters? Want to know what he has to show for it?

That was when DH was open and Foster could go there. Not the case anymore. With Sciambra doing so well, Foster has to be in the field.

Happy Saturday, btw.

You don't have to explain yourself doze. I make enough noise that it all gets directed at me. Let them stay on their condescending high horses because they can't add anything of value to the thread. I'm glad they've found what makes them happy.

CPM fricked up last night. Why are we even arguing this?

Because even talking about his mistakes equates to us "bitching" and being terrible, unhappy fans.
