What does everyone think about the future of our program. You add a good defense to Auburn. Arkansas seems to beat us every other year (seems like it anyway). Ole Miss will need a QB but has talent and a good coach. Miss St on the rise but losing a ton next year. Bama being bama. I just feel like its only going to get more difficult in the west each. I wish we could all the predict the future if Miles left but my personal opinion is we're in for mediocrity at best if he stays for the rest of his tenure. His lack of development at the QB position and I imaginative play calling will hold us back. We always say wait until next year but our offense is shite every year. Even with Mettenberger it wasn't like we utilized all of our talent. I want to be positive but when it's hard to even watch LSU play anymore I'm not hopeful.

MSU will sink quickly, they will suck next year.

ps - You didn't mention Arkansas. I actually think they'll be a bigger threat over the next few years than either MS school will be.

We finished 6th or 7th in the SEC with Mett and JL/OB. Every other year for the last 6 has been pretty bad man. Not trying to be negative it's just fact. I'm just discouraged with what we have as a coach. We get great talent and it just doesn't materialize on the field.

The MS schools were especially good because they had a lot of experienced talent. One of our youngest teams beat one of Ole Miss's best teams, and State will drop off a lot next year. Assuming we get some of our guys to stay, I'm not worried about them at least next year.

Now, Auburn may be a thorn in our side for a while if we can't keep up their pace. Scoring 10 will not win that one, and don't expect Miles to have a Gary Patterson revelation like he had at TCU with their new scoring machine, either. He'll either learn the hard way with 3-5 losses a year or should get canned if his #2 recruited talent underperforms these next few years.

ps - We had a great offense last year. The O was the reason we stayed in many games and could have won the Georgia one.

3K passing, 2 - 1k wrs, 1 rb 1400 rushing... SEC record...

Pay attention, a high scoring offense will be the death of Will Muschamps image as an elite DC.

Look at Saban and Co, they have joined the arms race. When they score a bunch, the defense suffers. That is just the way it is when you put your D on the field too much, leading to poor performances.

That is the rub.

AU was not missing proven coordinators, it is just hard to play dominant D on teams like that.

I'm more focusing on the play calling and not using TE's etc. you have to admit that Mett forced a lot of throws in really tigtt windows. It wasn't like the play was so great that Jarvis or Odell were wide open. Think about how many deep catches cooper has made the last 2 years where no one was even near him.

I guess but you don't think they will at least improve under Muschamp? I think they likely will. And may get better players on D because he's there.

Losing talent(that is all that needs to be said about MsSt.) grind on [off]

Miles knows that this year was going to be a rough year and the team will be in a better place next season as far as experience goes.

The qb position is the major question mark of next season, however I think it is going to be a joint effort from the staff and qb's to improve. I firmly believe Harris is the guy. For whatever reason Miles and Co. did not start him I hope that is resolved going into next season. Not to bash Jennings but passing is not his forte. Harris is the arm of this team and he needs to be ready come next season or we are doomed. There is hope (from the aTm game) for the play calling to improvement.

I can't predict the future. But I can predict, with absolute certainty, that Miles will stay at LSU for the rest of his tenure.

Landmass is not emerging... They are a product of a couple good players and some key seniors. This year, like all years landmass slips into relevance, is an abnormality... Not something that will continue.

at best? no

you can say most of the time or on average, but Miles will again have a dominant defense and a good enough offense to have an elite team again, probably pretty soon

now can he sustain elite teams? evidence says no, but not many teams/coaches can

LSU vs ARK

2008 lost
2009 won in OT
2010 lost
2011 won
2012 won
2013 won
2014 lost

So we're 4-3 against ARK the last 7 games played. And two of those so s were extremely close.

The rest of his contract a hole. I meant his scheduled tenure. Very clever though.

Lsu was 12th in the country in yards per play and 9th in points per play.we dont run a HU so our totals are always low.yards per play and points per play are a far better way to determine an offenses success.

2007 LSU 48 Arkansas 50
2008 LSU 30 Arkansas 31
2009 LSU 33 Arkansas 30
2010 LSU 23 Arkansas 31
2011 LSU 41 Arkansas 17
2012 LSU 20 Arkansas 13
2013 LSU 31 Arkansas 27
2014 LSU 0 Arkansas 17

I think someone forgot the fact that we lost in 2007 also. So it's 4-4 the last 8. Not too impressive!
