Candidates include Gilbert, Hess, Peterson, McKay, and maybe even Norman.

My money would be on Hess.

Out of the returning players, I'd go with Gilbert. Don't know enough about the newcomers to speculate on them, but it would be great to see one of them step up.

Hess seems to have good control. What makes you think Hess over Gilbert?

Newman at closer. Gilbert as key part of the weekend bullpen.

I would also like to see (as I would every year) an attempt to develop a 4th starter in the midweek. I know it was tried a couple times this year, but the pitchers that were tried didn't hold up their end of the bargain.

He's more physically ready IMO. Gilbert can add the weight in the off season, but Hess already has it.

BTW, Gilbert is only 15 days older than Hess.
