Pelican, I totally disagree with you. LAST year was a terrible year also, with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, and you didn't even sniff a postseason and you follow up last season with total implosion this season equals "it's time to move on"
the expectations were through the roof but I wouldn't call it terrible. Definitely disappointing though. We had some really nice stretches and made the semi finals of the sec tournament (yes I know how that ended )

Please enlighten us how the best tenure ever at a top 10-15 alltime program is underachieving. If miles underachieved then so has every single coach in lsu.

Les was 10-10 against the SEC West his last 20 games, with elite talent. If you don't think that's underachieving, then I just don't what to say.

Saban lost 4,3,5,1 and 3 at LSU. He had more than 4 losses at Bama and Michigan ST as well. Few will argue Saban is not the best CFB coach currently and one of the best if not the best of all time.

He had the most successful tenure in lsu history.
If you knew cfb youd know there are very few coaches that can recruit likes miles and be a great game day coach. Thats what makes them the best coaches.
Stop acting like all these other coaches wouldve been able to actually pull in that talent and be a great game day coach.

And again, Nick Saban and Urban meyer are the two best coaches in cfb and they have elite talent. Even those 2 coaches lose 1 time a year. Its jot some huge underachievement for a lesser coach to lose 3-4.

Also all that talent miles had resulted in on of the best tenures IN SEC HISTORY, let alone lsu history.

Wow.

In 2014 we started the 2nd most freshmen in cfb.
2015 we had a very young team and we basically won 10 games.

I admit he underachieved the last few years but in now way can his tenure be labeled an underachievement.

I agree with Rick on this.

He wins a national championship, gets to another within 5 years of winning the first. Calling it an underachievement is not realistic at all.

It's amazing how many people forget that we had such shite leadership that we turned down an NIT bid

I was just thinking the same thing. With the No. 1 player in the country.

He has the same amount of top 5 finishes as Saban, Mac , and Dietzel combined.
He was justly fired for not keeping lsu at a level he set. Not Saban.

I know it. He underachieved in the past few years. Not his tenure at LSU as a whole.

So I can kind of, let me stress kind of, see waiting to fire him because of his previous accomplishments but Jones has nothing near that on his resume'.

I don't understand what Alleva is waiting on. The schedule just gets incredibly more difficult from here. Wait until they lose all the games, I guess.

IMO, last season alone could be justification for replacing him.
Even in Miles' worst years were werent close to being one of the worst teams in the sec.

Can't wait til the baseball season so we can talk about firing the baseball coach too.

All 3 coaches in the same year.

You're Fired. You're Fired. You're Fired.

Because at LSU we don't lose games, we compete for championships.

we dont even need to watch games when reality tv tells us what to do

I have an answer for our troubles: either myself (resume played 6th-7th grade ball but understand basic defense) or my neighbor Frank (West Virginia - final 4 appearance in 1963). Basically we stacked

NCAA tourney collapse to NC state.

And that's when I was done with JJ. Everything that has happened since that game has confirmed what I thought about him as a coach.
. Me too. There were glimmers of hope at times last year but only due to some good talent. His coaching is really the worst I've witnessed anywhere. That collapse in the NCAA game was incredibly frustrating and telling. It was Jones' version of Miles' 1/9/12 .

The most embarrassing game and most telling that we were in deep trouble under JJ leadership was the A&M last year in the SEC Tournament. I was sitting right behind Simmons parents that game. He inexplicably lost that team on that day. It was a nightmare to watch. We then turn down the NIT?! I knew there were severe chronic issues brewing.
