With Miles we underachieved, with Jones we just suck

As much as Miles got bashed about (some very deserved), we never had a year that we just sucked so bad we would finish at the bottom of the league and go 0-8 of 1-7. The 2014 team was the worst I remember in recent time, and they still managed to beat Ole Miss, Florida, Wisconsin, and A&M. Not every game was lost before it started. I don't see another win on this basketball team's schedule, and Jones is reaching a low this school cannot and should not accept. He should be out and out very soon after a dumpster fire season, and he should have been gone after last year. I saw this coming from a mile away, and a competent AD would've seen it too. It's embarrassing.

I'll never forget the NCAA tourney collapse to NC state. That's as far as he'll ever take us

This thread ought to keep Ricky occupied for the evening.

I like when you start a thread and you're also the first one to reply to it...

A more serious reply . . .
That JJ hasn't already been fired tells me Joe has thrown the season away. When Les was fired, I take it that part of the reason why at that time (and not at the end of the season) was an attempt to salvage the season.
Apparently, Joe has no such hopes that this season can be salvaged.

Huge difference - Miles had the talent, JJ doesn't!

[a competent AD would've seen it too. It's embarrassing.]
The key is "a competent AD". Explains everything.

And that's when I was done with JJ. Everything that has happened since that game has confirmed what I thought about him as a coach.

Please enlighten us how the best tenure ever at a top 10-15 alltime program is underachieving. If miles underachieved then so has every single coach in lsu.

Its a full-time job trying to educate you football ignorant posters.
The best coach of our generation with the best talent in cfb loses every year but lesser coaches losing 2 or 3 is underachieving.

It's all relative. JJ don't have great talent but he does have a top 15 national recruit who could have played pretty much anywhere, a top 45 national recruit in Sampson and two other top 100 recruits and a couple of JUCO transfers that could have played for several other Power 5 conference teams.
That ain't gonna get you in the Top 25 with most coaches granted, but I'm willing to bet that gets you better than what we are getting with most. Namely consistent effort and accountability.
That's the bottom line for me.

To be fair,Until this year we never have had a terrible year under Jones and we're trending up

I'd disagree with that. Yes, we upgraded talent each year until this one but IMHO results vs. relative talent and the subtle erosion of accountability tells me we were not in the big picture. And last year from the year before was by no means an upward trend.

Pelican, I totally disagree with you. LAST year was a terrible year also, with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, and you didn't even sniff a postseason and you follow up last season with total implosion this season equals "it's time to move on".

Miles was no Saban who has never had a 5 loss season

Y'all just can't get over Miles. It's just like an ex, let them go..

Does this mean all SEC football teams are underachieving with their head coaches?
