JT Barrett (OSU) had one horrific game early as a RS Freshman AT HOME versus pathetic Virginia Tech throwing 3 INTs and they had a horrible loss..

But they stuck with the plan and let their more talented guy shine on and redeem himself and he went on to post heisman-like numbers this season before getting injured in that final game before the championship.

And I'd still take our program over there's

Any day

As much as I'd like to have stud QB'S every year, at least we do have other areas that are way better than 95% of the Country.

Les Miles made that change two years ago. Some people are just too slow to notice.

what is the system exactly? LSU puts spread QB's under center where they look extremely uncomfortable.

I know we want to win, but if these guys want to play in the NFL, they got to take snaps from under center. They need to learn it all. Funny thing is we ran Harris out of the gun against auburn. He sucked.

We didn't recruit LF to throw the ball around.

LSU's system requires an advanced QB from a mental standpoint. It has nothing to do with our guys not fitting the system. It has to do with neither of our QB being mentally prepared enough to successfully run the system

So it takes a senior QB to run our system? Sounds like it's time for a change of system.

that LSU could sign 3 quality QB's like Ohio St did, the ability to keep them all content at LSU, and most importantly the ability to fit any of them in an offense successfully.

Its called coaching

Lord Saban only had one decent year of QB recruiting and that was 2003 with Flynn and Russell.

We played 2004 with M.Randal as QB and two RS freshmen as back-ups. In 2004, RP was not considering LSU and LSU had no QBs on the board.

Urban Meyer has one of the easiest plug and play systems to play in. When is the last time you saw a team on its third QB and still having zero drop off?

Look what happened at Clemson when true freshman Watson got hurt. A 5th year senior in Cole Stoudt performed terribly in a wide open spread offense that ships out WRs to the NFL as fast as we do.

IMO, Cam is trying to coach our QBs to play in an NFL level offense. Really trying to make them pro ready QBs, but that tales time. Harris was extremely raw coming in which most scouts said including the ones at the UA All American game. I always thought he'd need a year or two to become fully ready to play. Jennings has not performed as expected and the WRs are no help. Hopefully the light comes on for Harris in the offseason.

I know people will say nobody in the NFL runs what we do, well they do, except they pass a lot more. Once they can get the technical side in order, our QBs will become very successful.

If you run the same offense the kids ran in high school your odds are much better.

Urban recruits QBs with very specific skill sets. Also, his system is very friendly to QBs. Apples to oranges.
pretty sure he recruits the same type of QB LSU is looking for nowadays.

only difference is that we run a complete clusterfrick of a system.

Comments like this really help recruiting. Let's just ignore the 2013 offense...

lets see how content they are next year.

I would be surprised of Jones and Barrett stay till the end of their eligibility.

But I would rather have QBs leaving because they re good than bad.

LOL....it's called playing in the big 10. How did Smith do against LSU in 2007 after lighting up the big 10 all year? The hilarious thing is that you kids can't see this.

Who said it takes a senior.

We have a true freshman and a true sophomore.

It's willful ignorance to say that success with a young QB is the norm.

Man did y'all watch the game? He was throwing up hailmarry passes the secondary from Wisky was terrible. He has a strong arm ill give him that but the long passes were jump balls that the WRs came down with. Their backs had a better game IMO and their D came up huge in the game! I don't think they will get the same result against bama at all especially if that 3rd string guy is playing now if their 2nd string guy is ready he's pretty good. I was more impressed with their WRs than the QB. LSU wouldn't allow OS to throw like that but our passing game would allow them to sell out in the run. We need a freakn QB man!!! Bad!!!

Yes, lets revisit this O.P. after we see how Ohio St's young QB handles Ala. If he performs well, will be interested to see how many react then?
