I think it altogether possible that we win out. I'm hoping for that. But, if we drop one more game (Alabama?) along the way, finish 10-2, and win a New Year's Day bowl game to go 11-2 and end up ranked #5-7 or so, will you be satisfied?

I'm just wondering because LSU fans have griped continuously over a 7-1 team. What if we go 11-2? I can see a total meltdown if we lose one of the remaining 3 SEC games. If we win the rest, will you consider this to have been a good year for LSU?

If not, you are stupid.

I said I would be happy with a 10-3 season so I would be happy as long as we win our bowl game

If we lose to either bama or Ole miss and win our bowl game, 80% of the fan base will be happy. They wont stand getting beat again by Ark Kansas. If we run the table and lose close in a bowl game, same play out.

Anyone unhappy with that is pretty hard to please this year. I would be satisfied with that but of course we are all hoping for more.

Regardless of how it all goes we will be better next year, just hope it translates into a better record next year which would mean an NC!

Anyone who would not be pleased with 10-2 or better needs to be silenced, because their opinion doesn't count.

A bowl win is never guaranteed. I don't hold a loss against miles. He has proven he can get his team ready for the bowls so it is not a must win. I think most expected 3 losses during the regular season this year. So I'll stick with that 9-3 season. Anything better and I will be happy.

Hell yeah this season would be a success with only 2 losses and a nice bowl win.

For me, its not so much about the record as how we play the games. If we play our asses off and are competitive, yet fall a little short, then Im not goin to get too upset. However, if we lose to an inferior team by playing absolutely shitty, then I get pissed. The latter situation was last season, the first situation is this season.

Yes. If we consistently win 10 games a year and are competitive for the SEC title and a BCS or high quality bowl then that is successful.

If we lost to Alabama, missed the SEC Championship Game, but still played in a good bowl game and beat a totally legit team (USC, maybe?), then I'd be real fricking happy.

11-2 would be failure. I'd rather go back to my freshman year with legendary Coach Charlie McClednon when we went tied Rice and went 5-5-1.

It's ashame someone even has to ask that question, but I understand...

To answer the question, of course.

Realistically, after last year, 9-4 should be par this year. 10-3 or better should be considered a great season (among the best ever).

LSU fans are incredibly spoiled and have terrible memories. Many look at me as though a penis is growing out of my forehead when I say, "LSU has only had 10 win seasons in:

1908 (10-0) Wingard
1958 (11-0) Dietzel
1961 (10-1) Dietzel
1987 (10-1-1) Archer
1996 (10-2) Dinardo
2001 (10-3) Saban
2003 (13-1) Saban
2005 (11-2) Miles
2006 (11-2) Miles
2007 (12-2) Miles

and if we do it in 2009, that will make 11 total (out of 117 seasons), of which Miles will have 4, Dietzel 2, Saban 2, Archer 1, Dinardo 1 and Wingard 1.

As it is, Miles already has 3 out of 10.
