I know Gamble is fully capable.
Either Miles was telling Peveto to tell him not to. Or Peveto was making the call himself.
Now that O is letting the coaches coach, but holding them accountable, it will be interesting to see where the call was coming from.

Will be the first roar when Gamble sends the opening kick in the back of the endzone

What has been the average field position after we kickoff? How many TD's have we given up?

I don't know the average opponent starting position. It has to be somewhere over 20. I'd guess around 23 (for our non-penalized kickoffs)
If that's the case. the 2 penalties put us at an average of 24.3.
Those penalties are absolute momentum killers though. We beat Bama in 2014 if we don't kick that out of bounds.
No need to risk it for an extra .7 yards.

Why kick touchbacks... when u send it sky high and get the opponent inside the 20?

Opponents' average starting field position after kickoffs is the 22. That includes touchbacks and penalties for going out of bounds.

It's actually about the 20 yard line.

frick gamble...make a clean break with the "freshman who can kick it clear through the end zone in the driving sideways rain"

Miles is gone..the witch is dead...we don't need to continue with any of his stupid idiosyncrasies ...we have suffered enough..

What we're doing right now is the right move and many other schools are following suit.

We're one the top teams in the country in opponents starting field position after a kickoff. This includes the penalties. Why would you want to change that?

Now punting's a different story.
