Now I feel slightly less stupid for telling casual LSU basketball fans over the years he has a nice ceiling. A great athlete and he has a nice stroke for a guy his size

He's always been good, but he has also always gotten himself into foul trouble within his first 2 playing minutes.

I don't think we have the horses to run with the top teams this season.

That may well be the case but I think what you will see is the guys returning from last year are significantly better than what you saw under CJJ and for many and varied (mostly obvious) reasons.

Won't know how good the new guys are till I get to watch them a few times.

If you're willing to defend, you give your self at least a shot in every game.

But, LSU is just so thin in the frontcourt. Reath plays hard but is foul liability. Wade has spoken glowingly of Epps. But until we actually see him have any clue what to do on defense and the fire to get inside a battle for rebounds, it's hard to EXPECT him to do so. Combs is coming off of injury and Kiir is a raw true Freshman.

I know Wade is going to demand that LSU defend. The difference bewtween winning and losing for this team will be:

1. Can they steal points from the FT line?
2. Can they do enough to stay close on the glass
3. Can they shoot well enough from 3?

On nights where they shoot it well from 3, LSU is going to be tough to beat because I think they will play hard on D. If the 3 is not falling, LSU is going to have to be aggressive and try to win the game from the FT line. I just don't know if they have enough guys right now who can consistently create their own offense. Sampson has the ability, but he's inconsistent. Oswuar (sp?) has done it at a lower level, but can he do it night after night in SEC play?
