We deserved to lose yesterday. Now to the point.

Officiating in Basketball and football in the SEC has continued to deteriorate over the years.

Is it really that hard to make an intentional effort to improve the quality of officiating every year?

Pretty bad officiating at the game last night. makes you realize if an official is just slightly biased he can make you win or lose very easily. glad Alabama doesnt get up for basketball as much as football or they would win SEC basketball every year

It's not just the SEC. I watched the Duke and Notre Dame game and I thought I was watching an SEc contest. The officials were letting Duke get away with physical play. Duke was getting Bama treatment.

I think todays basketball is much more difficult for referees to officiate. The days of a well coached, disciplined team playing fundamental basketball are less and less. In my opinion, we're seeing more of organized street ball. With that said, yesterdays officiating was poor and very inconsistent.

Tim Quat. Missed 4 FT's. And got lazy on defense at the end of the game. Easily could've put that game away by himself.

To your pt. we get calls and miss on others. It balances out in the end.

I do some baseball umping/basketball refereeing on the side......my point.....teams should take care of business on the field/court then they dont have to blame the officials when things go caca for them. Good teams do this and take officials right out of the game. We become window dressing...as we should be.

That it's not isolated to the SEC and maybe it's not an officiating problem but an expectation problem.

Officials are human, and I'd love for every fan to have to walk in their shoes.

Have you ever officiated anything at any level?

There's "bad" officiating, there's "biased" officiating, and then there is "both".

Unfortunately the SEC falls into the "both" category. What will be done about it?...absolutely NOTHING unless it begins to hit them in the wallet.

Regarding officiating, I can guarantee we will remain one of the worst sports conferences as long as the SEC HQ is located in Gumpville. Enjoy being routinely screwed, enjoy having to go to Hoover EVERY year for the baseball tournament, enjoy watching a $hitshow called the Birmingham Bowl, enjoy having half the content of the SECN filled with Gumpster Finnebaum.

It sucks...has sucked...and will continue to suck as long as we look the other way. It's not an excuse and it's not coincidence.

We missed 19 FTs which is inexcusable. We left the door open and it cost us the game. In football you must outplay "some" opponents by 7-10 points just to squeak out a 1-2 point win because the officiating can easily account for seven points.

There is ZERO accountability in the SEC HQ. NONE...ZILCH!

officiating summer leagues and public school cannot be compared to NCAA where millions of dollars are in play.

There is absolutely no reason this should not be a full time profession with continuing education, evaluation and accountability as in any other job.

First thing they should do is make sure the supervisor of officials did not come out of the current ranks.

We have a new SEC commissioner- it may be wishful thinking but let's hope he takes this under advisement

I'm tired of seeing the same faces from game to game every year. Unless we see some new refs we're going to see the same type of game being called every year. The SEC needs to get some new blood among its referees.

No, the SEC will do nothing. A older family friend worked as an SEC football official for years before he resigned in the mid 90's in disgust over the conference's indifference to blown calls.

Well, I've been able to attend several BBall games in Rupp during the 90's - there is an Kentucky obsession also.

Exactly. We are up 6 with 2 min left and TQ shooting 3 freebees. He missed all 3. Unexcusable. Make you free throws and you aren't complaining about officiating

No, bc the horrible officiating is not and will not cost them money. The SEC is all about making money. Bad officiating isn't costing them anything.

In regards to basketball officials, the same refs you see are officiating in most other conferences as well. The SEC doesn't have hired basketball officials that only do SEC games.

he didn't say the reason lsu lost was due to officiating. He said the officiating was poor. 78 foul shots between two teams. Really? I've always felt you could tell quality officiating by not noticing the officials. When they are injecting themselves into the game and become noticeable, they are usually poor officiated games. Players should decide a game and a officials call shouldn't sway a game.

I thought the lsu vs ky game was officiated well. lsu vs Au last night was the poorest job of officiating i've seen all year. you had two punches to the head last night by a team. both those players should have been shown the locker room. that would have controlled the players attitude more than calling ticky tack fouls both ways. that was a passive aggressive approach in dealing with the issue instead of solving the issue directly.
