Best regular season team in college football history. Toughest schedule EVER.

Victim of SEC HQ & ESPN negotiations for the SEC Network. Unfair to have to play in conference championship while team they defeated on the road gets a free pass into the game. (More bias from Gumpville.)

Even so...honoring them will be a problem if Jordan Jefferson is on the field. The crowd response may not be pretty. It may also help to wait until Miles leaves or retires as many will forever question his decision to stick with a lousy QB.

FIFY

The defense had LSU still in this game going into the 4th quarter. Sadly, we did not have anything remotely resembling a pulse on offense.

The system Will be better the de we lost were a good thing. There is no La'El but plenty to partially fill his shoes which will suffice just fine. All others you mentioned should be filled nicely. Yo answer your question IF and they don't make letters big enough for that IF we get average QB play I can see a nice run coming over the next two years.

They will honor the SEC champs. Pretty sure they did for the 2001 team.

If they don't, it would be wrong.

There has always been, and there will always be, ignorant fans.

Have you been on vacation to Mars or something? You honestly don't think there's been a decline since 2011?

13-1, #2/2
10-3, #12/12
10-3, #12/14
8-5, NR/NR

See it yet?

Absolutely should be. Best regular season in program history, won the SEC, played for the national title.
LSU has only won 3 national titles, so even considering the loss in the BCS game, this was still the 4th best LSU season ever.

For those that bitch "the start of the decline", you should then consider exactly what that means- the "start" of a decline is the highest point. If you have no desire to honor the highest point of a program, you then shouldn't honor any of it.

Ridiculous.

Oklahoma getting blown out 55-19 by USC was worse. Notre Dame getting blown out 42-14 by Alabama (and it could have been much more) was worse. Ohio State getting flattened by Florida 41-14 was worse. Nebraska was less competitive against Miami in 2001 regardless of the final score. As for offensive futility, FSU didn't exactly set any records losing 13-2 to OU in 2000.

Nope. There were four others before that one.

1908: 10-0-0
1933: 7-0-3
1936: 9-0-1
1958: 10-0-0

Also, there were some others when we only played a few games...

1895: 3-0-0
1896: 6-0-0
1898: 1-0-0
1905: 3-0-0

We've honored far less-accomplished teams

The 2011 team won the SEC title. What teams have we honored that didn't at least win the SEC title?

Get the frick over 1/9/12.

Might want to tell that to the coaching staff. It has hung over them like a cloud ever since, especially in each Alabama game. Miles outcoached the frick out of himself in that 2012 game at home.

There's one thing that was different in our game vs Bama then the others. I will bold and capitalize it for you. WE SCORED ZERO,ZILCH,NADA,NIL AND CROSSED THE FIFTY YARD LINE ONCE OR TWICE IN THE ENTIRE GAME AND THAT WAS TOWARDS THE END OF THE GAME. IT WAS BEYOND EMBARASSMENT.

That my friend has not and never will happen again!

Along with all of those years you posted I also enjoyed watching the 01 and 06 LSU teams also. Rohan Davey was probably my favorite LSU quarterback to watch. And that 06 LSU squad was as NFL loaded as any other LSU team in recent memory. I believe LSU would have beaten florida that year if they would have give that TD to Hester that was clearly over the goaline that would have put us up 14-0. That was yet again another screw job by the refs. and Auburn... well.. I don't think I have to explain that game.

I'm sure they will be honored. What a bizarre ending to the greatest lsu season ever. I will never understand Les Miles.

That was one of the best football teams LSU ever had. That defense was practically nfl loaded and every opponent struggled against it.
That was one of the best football teams LSU ever had for the first eight games of the season until the "Grass Man" decided to step in and totally screw up the Offensive chemistry. The team was never the same after the non-sensical QB switch. No doubt we would have gone on to win the NC if things would have been left alone and not interfered with.

Miles and the program have have never recovered from that and have been on a steady downfall since. Legions of fans jumped off the LM bandwagon and have never jumped back on. In fact, more jumped off last season over the QB situation and that will increase exponentially this season if there is no Offensive/QB/passing game improvement..........
