Right now now i feel like keeping wade long term is our biggest recruiting challenge. Because, so far he has been extremely impressive. To answer the question, yes if he stays at lsu long enough i think he will get us back to the final four.

Elite 8.

Final Fours are really fricking hard to get to.

Also, I think he gets a better job in 4 years. Like a top 5-8 kind of job. Which would mean he did incredibly well here, so I can't be that upset.

It's a very difficult feat to accomplish. He puts us in a much better position to do so, but to say automatically "yes", I won't go that far.

Just think about our last final 4 team. Needed a long 3 from D Mitch in round 2 to advance to the sweet 16.

ETA: Sean Miller has never been the to final four. Think about the teams he's had at Arizona.

I'm not saying Wade won't leave us for a "better" job, but people need to realize Wade can make us a top 5-8 job again. Once again, the list is VERY SHORT of schools that have a better all time team than LSU. I would think that a main consideration for a coach's long term success is the ability to get great basketball players, to which LSU takes a backseat to NOBODY!!!!!!

I think we definitely will be an NCAA tournament team every year. It really is difficult to make the final four.

If he can recruit top talent as it seems he can do, I know we will always make splashes in March. Maybe not a final four but sweet sixteens and elite eights are feasible for sure.

Will we consistently beat UK, UF, MSU, and aTm?

If yes, then we have a shot at NCAA tourney success.

If we continue to be second tier SEC West... no shot at all.

Good God! We're kind of putting the cart before the horse here a bit. The guy hasn't coached a single game at LSU and we're already worried about him leaving?

So far he has been impressive. But objectively, you could have said the EXACT same thing at this point in Jones' tenure. In fact, people were losing their minds and saying the EXACT same things about Jones "bringing LSU back"! Jones' first full recruiting class was ranked #6 in the nation with the centerpiece being a 5* kid from Baton Rouge (Jerrel Martin). We all know how that turned out.

Now that's not to compare Wade to Jones, because I think there is really no comparison there. In 4 years as a HC Wade has more regular season conf. titles and NCAAT wins than Jones had in 17 years as a HC. But until he actually coaches a game, I think it's a bit premature to worry about him leaving.

As far as getting LSU to a Final Four. Who knows? It's not easy and LSU has only been to one in the last 30 years. Getting there almost always requires a little good fortune and getting good matchups in the tournament.

If Wade does well at LSU I'm not overly concerned about him leaving. The thing that sold me on him was his comment that there is no reason LSU can't have the same success in basketball as Florida. I've been saying that for years. Outside of one Final Four run in 1994, Florida basketball was virtually non-existent prior to Donovan. They then became a powerhouse at a "football school" with the help of the SEC money and a good local talent pool. LSU can do the exact same thing. Louisiana is a very good basketball talent producing state and the resources are at LSU.

Like Donovan, Wade may have an opportunity to go to one of the traditional powerhouses later in his career. But if he's in that position, it's because he's doing big things at LSU. And if he's doing big things at LSU, is there really any reason to leave? During Donovan's tenure the only two coaches who made more Final Fours were Williams and Izzo (5-4). LSU can be a basketball powerhouse, but I'm not ready to anoint it one just yet before Wade even coaches a single game

I seem to remember CWW saying at his intro press conference that he sees LSU much like Florida and that doesn't see why LSU can't have the same type of success. If he can put LSU on that level maybe he stays with the program he built. At least one can hope.

But there is no doubt in my mind that he is going to be a VERY desirable coach in relatively short order. If he has a desire to take over a Kentucky, Duke, etc. I think the opportunity will be there if he does the things I think he's going to do here.

Wade said this was his dream job, maybe he builds a powerhouse in the SEC West and never leaves. A little hope is a good thing.

Much more likely than winning a championship with Orgeron.
