I'm not talking about a road trip in state or something like the Shriners Classic but a true road series. I want to see games like at Stanford or Texas. Last I remember they said the costs were prohibited to do true road series. Last true non conference road series was a trip to play some 2nd tier team in Florida in the mid 2000's I think.

I have a hard time believing costs are the reason. I think it's more about LSU not wanting to go on the road. Personally, I think it's a bitch move (if true). I'd love to see them schedule a home and home with some big names. It'd make preconference much more fun. After 2 weeks of service academies and Maryland, I'm over it.

I remember them doing home/homes with Texas and Cal State Fullerton, and Arizona State in the past.

In reality, why should we? The numerous neutral site tournaments in the south preconference have tremendous talent at them, and we make so much money during our home series. If we can continue to get in good neutral site series/tournaments preconference, then why lose out on the money? We are getting plenty of road experience during the midweek and neutral site weekend games

I remember seeing someone mention on this board that there's a home and home series scheduled or being planned with Texas. Hope it's true.

Be honest....if we would have lost one game this weekend you would have made a thread to complain about a player or the coaches. How long have you had this one filed under, "threads for when there is nothing else to complain about."

Would not mind seeing them head out to the Dodger Classic, that would be sweet.

Agreed. Attendance records would likely be set after seeing the results of Shriner's Classic and the "almost" Rose Bowl trip from a few years ago.

I'm certain LSU will schedule away games in the future, but their scarcity is driven by money to a great degree. Visiting teams in baseball don't make any money (there just isn't enough to go around). It's not like football or even basketball. LSU is one of the few teams that can make a little money with a home game. Why give that up to go on the road just to break even? The only argument would be if it's a big name team coming to town (i.e Texas) it would allow you a greater chance of selling out your stadium. LSU sells out the stadium anyway. From a dollars and cents perspective, there's no reason to do it.

Just remember... we get Power 5 teams to come to the Box for a weekend without a return trip...

seems like a read that part of the deal with building the new baseball stadium was, LSU would play all home series' to help pay for it. Obviously that changed a few years ago. so, maybe that was like a 5 year plan?

I might be mistaken but i thought the plan was to not have any away non conference weekend series while they are still paying for the new box.

Yes!
With a new coach at Texas I could see that renewed in the next 2 seasons.

Too many northern teams willing to play down here during early part of season, which gives more value to season ticket holders and brings in more money. If LSU did those type of series you are suggesting it would make no sense.

Losing a 3 game series at The Box on top of road expenses makes it a no brainer to stay at home. That was Skip's perspective when it came to playing in the old Winn Dixie Challenge in the Dome. He gave up 3 home games, all the money going to LSU's pockets, for 3 "road" games in which LSU had to split the pot with tulane & UNO. With LSU fans making up most of the crowds. We played N.D. last year because of CPM's ties there. As an area LSU fan, what do I get out of LSU traveling out of state to play 3 games? Our RPI remains high every year with just the SEC league games.
