If Miles needed to be fired, Jones needs to be arrested. Wasting last year was criminal.

This will most likely be his last year with the program

No matter how bad this season is I don't think there's any way he's fired mid season.

it was tough to watch for sure, but that was a chance that Jones took when recruiting Simmons. There was never any way LSU could sustain recruiting 1-and-done talent year after year. Shoot, only a couple teams succeed with this.

To be fair, last season was Jones' only true regression. That said, his team surely has to outperform their preseason predictions for Jones' job to not be on the hot seat.

I think he will be canned at the end of the season if things go how I expect. He's just not a good coach. I mean nothing in his past would even point to him being a good coach, and they hired him anyway.

I believe this will be Johnny's final season here. But I do believe he'll make it through the entire season.

Short Leash? Les should have been gone before the season was over last year and it took 4 games this year

There's not enough interest and thus, outrage from the fanbase to force a mid-season change. LSU has plateaued under Jones, so a change will have to come sooner or later. The big question is whether LSU will be willing to spend money to get a new basketball coach after presumably spending big on a new football coach?

Regression is the pumpers way of putting it.

He hast exceeded any expectations and barely achieves mediocrity. Padding win totals with terrible OOC games and even losing too many games we shouldnt.

He came in with high praise for his recruiting ability. Got Ben because of Patrick and Blakeny is probably his true top recruit. After that he managed to not recruit a single C here for this year and 1 Forward knowing full well we would zero depth at that position.

No, he has to at minimum get to the tournament or he is fired. He is well past the hot seat at this point.

No, not at all. Big alumni don't care that much about basketball. Sometimes I think there are only about a dozen of us who care anything about it. I do think this is a make or break season for CJJ. But if it all goes sliding downhill like a snowball headed for hell, to quote Merle Haggard, they won't fire him until the end of the season.

But I am a Tiger basketball fan. I always hope for a good season and believe we will have one until proven wrong. There is much more talent on this team than most people believe. If Johnny can get them to hustle, play defense and act like a team instead of a bunch of individuals, they will do much better than expected.

No, he should have been fired last year. Miles should have been fired too.

Many of the fans were upset with the season ended and said they will not be renewing season tix. That was just words and many renewed and reading several threads there is still a good amount of optimism regarding the program.

He will finish out the season and Alleva will have a great deal of backlash for it but he will fire Jones.

I don't know that he'll be fired honestly.

We're not a blue blood, going 18-12 or 20-14 every year might be enough to keep him around so long as tourney appearances are sprinkled in

I think Johnny and Nikki will both be in the unemployment line at the end of the year.

I hope. JJ is post 2011 Miles, minus the National Championship on his resume, and minus the high rankings. JJ has mild expectations for the basketball program at best, then fails to deliver on them every year. All he does well is recruiting, but even that is on a much lower level than Miles had

Ah yes, the negative reality and challenges of having the best player in basketball on your team.

I hope so, don't need any distractions while figuring out who will be the Head Football Coach. LSU basketball sucks and has for a long time. Lets get football squared away first and then we can worry about the basketball team. Lets face it
