I'm guessing Tommy Hodson holds the record?

He's only at 9-4 right now. Not sure he'll even get that close.

My unofficial calculations:

Hodson was 32-14-1 (no start vs. loss to Bama in '87)

Herb Tyler was 27-11

So yeah, he'd have to come close to either and that's a tall order. To beat Tyler, he'd need to average two 9 wins seaons (maybe a ten) to get there. Hodson - not likely.

I think that depends on his off season improvement. However, word on the street is they are very high on CG. Do you have any inside scoop?

Hmmm, I'm getting that LSU was 31-15-1 for his 4 years.

Wow, another year with a cherry QB.

That's just what this program needs.

I can understand why a Bama guy would hope for such, but I wouldn't hold hold my breath.

Congrats on your season and good luck with the Horns.

Doubtful. I think he's just a retard that thinks that QBs never improve in the offseason and the backup 3rd string RS-freshman that hasn't taken a snap against a college defense that isn't in practice is better than the starter b/c he doesn't like the way the starter completed 60% of his passes @ 7 YPA with over a 3-1 TD to INT ratio.

This. I would like to add that I pray that I never see JJ try to run another option and that coaches teach him to wipe that "im confused look off his face and teach him to get the hell off the ground when hes hit.

That '89 season was a real gutbuster for Tiger fans. Opened the season with a #7 ranking, dominated A&M in statistics but lost by 12 in the opener, then quickly fell into oblivion...

Well to this I would like to add....learn that as the QB, you should have an internal clock that says "get rid of the ball". And if you aren't able to get rid of the ball in the proper amount of time and you are being pressured, throw the sumbitch away.

we all agree that jefferson is a talented player. we also must not forget he is a true sophmore. and this was his first full year at qb in the sec. a lot of the things he does on the field can be coached up. he has seen the way the game is played at the college level and will apply it to next season. he will be alright and he has a chance to make everyone realize he is a qb that we need for the next 2 years.

Hodson actually won 31 as a starter and JJ would have to do well to come close. If the Tigers defeat PSU which is a tall order, JJ would need to average 11 wins in the next two seasons to break the record. Some doubt he will remain the starter beyond this season though I'm not one of them. I've seen enough of LM to know it would take a Herculean effort by another QB to supplant JJ as the starter. And, if you make the assumption that JJ will indeed improve as a player, it would make it even more doubtful he would lose his job. However, just as this year, staying injury-free could be a problem, especially if he doesn't outgrow the nasty habit of backing up into sacks. All the same, if JJ comes close to Hodson's record it bodes well for Tiger Nation.
