I'm beginning to doubt it, unless he eventually becomes DH. I think he may be the only position player to not see any defensive playing time this year.

He and Ducote were both JUCO All Americans and led Delgado to back to back World Series appearances. CPM needs to give them both a shot in the lineup. He's got talent in Adams, Ducote and Romero sitting on the bench or not traveling at all.The saying goes, if you can hit they will find a place for you on the field. It seems to be the opposite with CPM.

I'm not sure how you can advocate for Ducote to get more ABs than he is currently considering he hasn't returned from injury.

Adam's is the classic boom or bust type hitter however he hasn't done enough in fall ball/spring practice/in game situations to win Mainieri's trust as a starter.

Example: I think his last at bat to date against Alabama when he pinch hit for Papierski he came up in the 9th and didn't even come close striking out on 3 pitches.

Edit: Cody Ducote has reminded me so far of Rene Escobar '08, great credentials as a hitter who suffered an off the field incident and hasn't seen the field since. Going to be interesting to see if he's with the Tigers in 2017.

Bryce Adams has been the same player since he was in 8th grade. Feasts on FB, throw him anything with movement or deception and he's SOL. He has tremendous raw power, but can only run into about 1 every 20 abs, be it a double or a homer. He was so good in high school and college because there was not much as far as pitching competition comes. He's nothing like Jordan Romero who has tremendous raw power AND knows how to work counts and get on base. Romero rarely looks as lost as Bryce does. Being a JUCO AA doesn't always transfer to the college ranks especially in the SEC. I see him getting mop up duty at best. And for a 6'4 1B his defense is pretty bad.

Ducote is another story. No one really knows what he can do because he's been out so long with the hand injury. I'm afraid by now he might just be too far behind, but I'd like to see Romero, Brennan Breaux, and Ducote get some more ABs.

He looks as bad as Dawson at the plate.

i got this from PM's press conference before the season started. he said something like "bryce has a ways to go to overtake the guys in front of him". And Adams was like 4th on the 1b depth chart.
