In the presser, Miles mentioned that Terrence Magee could possibly play out of the Wildcat formation. I don't remember Miles mentioned the possibilty of playing out of the Wildcat before.

IMO LSU is the perfect program to utilize a Wildcat formation, if only for a few plays per game. It seems that LSU has had more than its share of Wildcat guys over the years. If Miles is even considering Magee to do this...wouldn't Shep be the logical choice to slip into the shotgun a few plays a game to give a new look. Maybe, just maybe, teams would have to fear him throwing a pass.

I can't think of any program that would have more versatile athletes every year that could put a dual threat behind center in the Wildcat.

What think?

Ware should take the snap with Shep as the motion man.

Tried it a few years ago. All we would do would be a direct snap to the RB and he'd run straight up the field. No motions. No other play. So the D would know what was coming. If you utilize it like Malzahn does or like Arkansas did with McFadden, Jones, and Hillis it could be a great option for our offense.

Picture Ware/Shep as QB. Ford next to him. The other person Ware/Shep at WR as the motion man. That could be a awesome offense.

I'm not up on the background of the players as you guys are. It sounds like you think Ware is more of a passing threat than Shep. I know Ware threw a beauty against Auburn, but can he get through the line quick like Shep could?

I'll pass out if I ever see that due to over-excitement.

Pretty sure Ware played a lil QB in hs. He had one of our biggest passing plays against Auburn.

Ware and Magee would each be great in the wildcat, you would have a lefty and a righty for the pass plays. shep or gore in motion. LSU has had the perfect personel to run wildcat the last few years but for some dumb reason hasn't even given it a shot.

You could really get creative, here. Magee is really quick, and ideal for the wildcat. Has the athletic ability, and supposedly a real good arm. You could also throw Paul Turner/Shep in there, but not the arms of Magee/Ware, but they have the athletic ability. Lots of options if the Pro-style offense suffers from QB play.

let's see how many of the players on our team that play qb and have passed the ball for at least a 1,000 yards in one season.we have R.Shepard,R.Randle,S.Ware,S.Gibson,T.Magee,P.Turner,and Ronald Martin. with this many guys that can either have a option to run or pass man a defense would have a hell of a time to try and stop it. sounds like a good idea to me.

Even if you put one the guys mentioned here in the Wildcat for one or two plays you can get the defense to burn a TO, or at the very least it's on film for the next opponenet to worry about.

With LA athletes there should be multiple sets and have the D thinking about this s**t.

I played against Terrance McGee, the guy can run the Wildcat like no other. Straight up athlete.

Dude, I live in PA and can't get the day-to-day insight for LA high school football. Thanks for your take on Magee.

To me the most effective wildcat is with an actual RB as the trigger man so that you have a better inside running threat than you would with Shep or Magee, which is why I think Ware is the best guy for the job.

The snaps Murphy got were really just direct snaps to a tailback with no motion man, which really isn't a true wildcat (but that's a much longer post for a different topic).

Something I always laugh at is when the football experts of the rant come out and say " IMO LSU is perfect for _______.". This could be a player, a play, a formation, a coach, or a number of other things. But LSU is always a perfect fit for it.

End rant.
