Why would any AD structure a coaches contract so that he would still get paid

if he were no longer wanted? Do some AD's have the ability to project the future, and therefore the thought of termination is moot?

Because any coach worthy of running an elite football program is going to want a contract that prevents mental midgets for making knee-jerk reactions.

Are you under the impression that top tier football coaches are willing to work as hourly contract workers?
