Brady was a good coach. His players were excellent on defense and physically tough. He was a good recruiter. A good coach but his motivational tactics were behind the times. Good is not necessarily great. During games, he was visually and verbally abusive towards players that did meet his expectations. While acceptable and almost expected during my 1970’s high school basketball career. That leadership style was fading into the sunset during the end of John Brady’s early 2000’s tenure. LSU Athletic Dept leadership believed that his leadership style would not change and future recruits would not respond favorably to him. This may not be a popular post and I’m not sure if I agree with the sentiment. But it’s all truth

I shook John Brady’s hand on the court after the LSU/Mississippi State game in Starkville in 2019 where Naz bounced in that 3 in OT. I told him I loved hearing him on the radio and he seemed really happy to hear that. I walked right past Chris Blair and big leagued him to talk to Coach. He seems like he’s enjoying life now. He wasn’t personable like that back in the day.
