Forgive me for not knowing the backstory in this but why do we hate this guy. He was a great tiger coach for a long time. He was the coach when we had actual talent at DB. Unlike now. Can someone please explain why we hate this man?

Because of Ed O and going to Florida. People won’t give him credit for recruiting/developing guys like Jamal Adams, Tre White, Donte Jackson, Delpit, Fulton, Sting, etc.

Many feel he got lazy and stopped trying in recruiting. Also, strong-armed LSU each opening for a raise/promotion by threatening to leave. BK let him walk. If he does come back, we’ll find out quick if him being lazy rumors were just a product of Coach O post-championship or if he’s just calling it a career and coasting.

I also wonder if he’ll coach both corners and safeties. Some saying Cooks will stay, so I wonder how that’ll work with other rumors that Aranda hired Bill Busch to coach safeties and Raymond hated it.

He gets plenty of credit. Doesn't change the fact he was ushered out because he got comfortable and lazy. All that good faith went out the window until now because we are desperate for anyone not named Steeples.

Don’t get it either.

Everyone was butt hurt when he left for Florida.

He was the supposed prince of DBU. Hell of a recruiter.

The secondary had a down year on his way out, but we’re coming fresh off the heels of the worst defense in school history.

Only a clown wouldn’t want him back. Our coaching staff sucks. Newsflash - House ain’t getting fired either. May as well fill the position coaches with some big names

He was put on the Naughty List for supposedly entertaining other job offers to leverage higher pay, then he got a lot of residual flak for Derek Stingley and Eli Ricks...

But his cardinal sin was mentioning being opposed to police brutality and racism- This banishes him to the Permanent Hate Unredeemable Wasteland, with Drew Brees and Ryan Clark.

I don't get the anti Raymond stuff either. I thought he did a great job while he was here.

No,

The reason he gets shite is his final two seasons here the defense sucked dick particularly his unit. He got lazy and spent time leveraging openings and then failed to deliver.

If you gonna hunt out jobs each year you can’t let it distract you from your job.

I would take him back because he is better than Cook or Steeples.

Everyone was virtue signaling in 2020 about how black people were the victims. Stats have pretty well shown that’s not the case and everything has since died down.

Because the Rant hates any coach who leaves no matter the reason and they especially hate ex players who’ve become coaches. Very weird

I dont dispute the comfortable and lazy part because things were on the decline in DBU when he left. He was ushered out as part of the deep cleanse that BK put on the program to get all the culture issues out including many players. Brad Davis was retained because he was only here a yr and was a good choice anyway.

I did not necessarily like the purge but I understand why he did it.

I don't hate him at all. Yeah he used leverage to get more money but it's hard to fault a guy for trying to make more money. Especially when we're talking about a guy who landed so many great recruits. Stingley and Ricks didn't work out like we hoped but by god he got them to sign on the line that is dotted. They were two of the biggest recruits to ever sign with LSU so he was doing something right.

You look at the players he recruited to LSU and it's pretty incredible. Bring the man home.

He hasn't had a good pass defense in over 5 years. Statistically

I’ve seen this many times but it doesn’t match the results IMO.

2021
Sage Ryan 5* - hasn’t lived up but we all thought he’d be a star
Damarius McGhee - 4* top 100 player nationally
Derrick Davis - 4* top 100 player nationally
Langlois - 4*
Pig cage and Major burns as transfers

2020
Eli ricks 5*
Jordan toles 4* top 100 nationally
Mcglothern 3* top 5 pff graded CB in all of football at Arkansas this year
Darren Evans transfer

2019
Stingley 5*
Maurice Hampton 4* top 100 player national
Raydar Jones 4* top 200 player national
Jay ward 4*
Cordale Flott 4*

There are some misses for sure and 2020 was a little light. But most were highly ranked and recruited players

Not when you do it every single season. It literally cost him several recruits over the 6+ years that he did this. It was literally every offseason. I remember Jacoby Stevens decommitting at one point because Raymond was supposed to be going to UGA. At some point, it becomes incredibly unprofessional.
