What have you expected him to do, at this point, that he hasn't?

He has LSU playing a spring game at Southern.

No, dumbass. LSU's lack of grass on its football field has them playing a spring game at Southern.

You’re entitled to your opinion.

I’ve been ridiculed for saying this before, but it feels like now my words might be received a little differently so I’ll try again.

Paul really really needs to make it to Omaha this year. If he underachieves yet again, then you’re gonna find out just how capable Woodward is ok?

Bookmark it, downvote it, insult me, do whatever makes you feel better, but remember it.

Fans destroyed Alleva for tailgating, parking, fan experience and concessions. Woodward didn't make a single change to any of those things. He couldn't do anything? Nothing?

We didn't expect him to fire coaches, but maybe he could do something about the complaints fans had with Alleva. Thus far, it still looks like Joe's in charge.

Ridiculous. Has it occurred to you that he’s been here not even a full school year? Maybe he’s assessing things with his own eyes and making some decisions on how to implement change? Is that possible?

The Box is worse than ever and it’s pretty clear Paul is simply collecting a paycheck at this point.

Finally people are waking up. Paul is just a tweaker and hard arse. We need a motivator and teacher. There are some awesome young coaches out there.

He's really doing no better than Sumlin did.

He should reach 10+ wins next season,

Compliments of a very weak OOC schedule but he still needs to win two of @ South Carolina, @ AUburn, @ Alabama, LSU (Kyle Field) and whatever Bowl opponent they get to win 10. Definitely doable but not exactly easy depending on how South Carolina plays and who their bowl opponent is.

but for now he's on a good pace there.

Again, no better than Sumlin.

Was Woodward supposed to fire pawl after going to a super regional?

This is the thing that makes all the fire Pawl crap so ridiculous. This isn't the Skip Bertman era of NCAA Baseball. Parity in college baseball is as good as it's ever been, to the detriment of traditional powerhouses like LSU.

The current draft system for baseball is getting more and more college player heavy because the system set up makes that a less risky possibility for MLB teams. That equates to better players throughout the NCAA and Tittle IX means baseball scholarships are limited. Here is an article from 2012 on that very subject.

https://www.espn.com/espnw/title-ix/story/_/id/7959799/the-silent-enemy-men-sports

quote:

Every year, head coach Paul Mainieri scurries around the country to offer preps a fraction of a free ride. So it's not surprising to hear that he would like more scholarships. "I don't know that I've ever had a player receive a scholarship in the amount which was commensurate to his value," he recently told the LSU student newspaper, The Daily Reveille. "It's sad, really, that college baseball is treated that way."

Who do we put the blame on? Let's ask the man himself, Skip Bertman.

quote:

Skip Bertman, who coached baseball at LSU from 1984 to 2001, then built the school into a sports powerhouse as athletic director from 2001-08, believes he knows where to put the blame. "I think," Bertman said in March, "baseball is pretty much a victim of Title IX."

Why is it every 5 minutes some a-hole feels compelled to start a thread questioning why we should have faith in Woodward?

It will set the tone for his tenure as he attempts to put his stamp on the program. He’s a big check writer and the youngest bestest in the country must be found and captured.

Dude got hired just before football season first of all. Second, PM is not a bad coach lol. It's baseball. It's mental, the dude can't make players perform. I think he puts his players in a situation to where they can compete, and that's really all you can ask for, besides development. Which he has developed some great ball players, if he hasn't, then why does top notch players keep showing up on campus? Because they know what he can do. We just won a Natty in football and brought in hella cash. After this year, I'm sure he will have alot of things upgraded just for you.

When Paul Mainieri was hired in 2007, it looked like we had a coach who was eager and willing to make changes and run players off who were not a good fit at LSU. The past five seasons, Paul looked uninterested and lethargic.

To his credit, Paul’s teams usually kills it in the SEC Tournament. His teams make April and May runs after being left for dead in February and March.

I have a belief that Mainieri is tired and is looking at an exit by 2023. His teams do not scare anyone in the Postseason and home super regionals are a crapshoot. Recruiting has been hit or miss and injuries haven’t helped.

Let Scott Woodward evaluate all things at the conclusion of this season. For now, we relax and allow the hands to play themselves out.

My biggest concern for Woodward is that he hired Jimbo for $75M. Not looking so smart now.

Replace the Wal-Mart Tarp batter's eye.

How long should it take to build a solid one?

The Industrial Arts Department at U-High could have it up in a couple of weeks. (Or maybe even the more advanced IA dept. at LSU)

Any other SEC schools have "Fabric BE's" in Center Field? (I'll bet LSU is the only one)
