Why not Coach O as the next HC?

It seems clear that most people would like for the next head coach to be offense-minded, but I've also seen where some would like Aranda or another defense-minded coach.

I'm wondering how y'all would feel about having Coach O as our next head coach. In my mind, the man is passionate, knows football, recruits well, is fun to watch, and cares about LSU. If he gets a good offensive coordinator that knows how to use the whole field, what would be wrong with having him as our head coach?

Because he is a proven failure as a head coach. No one in the business thinks enough of him to hire him as a coordinator or pay him more than $600,000. He makes 1/2 Aranda's salary and 16% of the salary of Houston's head coach.

As I posted in another thread, I would be much more comfortable hiring Smacker Miles. As a complete unknown she would have a much greater chance of success than O.

I've been saying this. If O hired an innovative OC it would work. Best case scenario is Miles gets fired and O has the rest of the season to prove himself as head coach. The only reason he's not head coach at USC is the blue blood AD didn't want a coon arse representing the program. Otherwise, he was great at SC.

O doesn't even know how to speak. Les doesn't make any sense when he speaks but at least you can understand the words. O would be like the janitor in Waterboy.

Why do you think they ran him out of L.A., they ain't gonna put up with that thing out there. It'd be cute here for some local commercials but it would make LSU look even worse than it currently does. Plus it's not like he did a such bang up job at Mississippi.

Do you want us to continue to be the laughing stock of the SEC for the next 5 years?

During the rest of the season he would hardly have the chance to do what head coaches do. Fans who suggest guys like O don't nderstand the role of head coach. It's more of an executive role than a coaching role. What makes it extremely difficult is that it's both. A major college head coach must be a leader and must be a disciplined organizer. It is also helpful if he is a great coordinator, offensive or defensive.

O is a passionate guy who would probably get the team to play with passion. But that won't win. You have to get them to practice and prepare well. At the same time, and in the background, you have to be running a scouting and recruiting effort, a public relations effort, an HR effort to recruit and retain your staff, a strength and conditioning effort, an academic tutoring effort.

This is a very difficult job that requires executive leadership, coordinator level coaching ability, and inspirational leadership. Of those O has only the last one. Clearly he is not an executive leader. He rose to coordinator and has since fallen down that ladder. And his salary and position reflect this.

As usual i agree with Penrod.

Id be more comfortable letting Aranda have the interim job before O.

Nobody seems to really remember Ole Miss. When he got there they sucked. Each year they got much better. By his last year they were a whisker away from beating all other SECW teams.

Personally, I was happy they fired him because they were going to be good that next year, and their recruiting was way better under O...

I was told he is the next head coach of LSU. That's why they sent him on the summer tour this year.

Please tell me you are under the age of 30. So, is that why they tried to re-hire him after last season as well? You guys need to do some research before speaking.
