Why Matt Campbell would make sense

Experience - Head coach at Iowa St and Toledo
-Led Toledo to 9 wins 3/4 seasons
-Iowa St 3 8+ win seasons (last 8 win season was 15 years before his hire)
Offensive coordinator and OL coach experience - his time in the mid-west and Ohio would help recruit OL from that talent rich area
Gets the most out of his talent - last season at ISU beat Oklahoma, Texas, Ok St and Oregon
Offensively he's able to adjust to his talent - in 2019 his QB threw for 4k yards and 27 TDs and in 2020 his RB had 1500+ yards and 21 TDs
Recognized as one of the top HCs in country
Awards
MAC Coach of the Year (2015)
3x Big 12 Coach of the Year (2017, 2018, 2020)
2x AP Big 12 Coach of the Year (2017, 2020)
And he's only 41.
Also, it wouldn't hurt having a HC that is familiar with our 2 new SEC opponents OU and Texas.

I wouldn’t be furious if he’s the guy. However, I feel like Woodward wants someone who’s pissed in a few more corners.

Paul Dietzel would make more sense than our current coach and Dietzel is deceased.

I like him. He is also my top choice for LSU. His programs are clean, and he represents himself well. If he can get in here with the right coordinators, he can build a winner.

I haven't seen much talk about him on the rant but to me, he's the type of hire Wood would make as far as "splash" goes
...not some of the older splashy names I've seen

Yeah but Fickell got that serious face

He already makes 4mil a year at Iowa St so the the boosters will have to open up their wallets to get him, but he's shown pretty sustained success and an ability to beat teams with much greater talent.
His QB Brock Purdy was a 3 star and started as a Fr now has 71 TDs/29 INTs and over 10000 yds.

Have you watched Campbell’s offense?
It seems old school Big 10 to me.

It is, but his teams are fundamentally sound. I would think he would be adaptable though as a young coach. Purdy was their 2nd leading rusher last season so he's not against using his QB as a dual threat.
Reading some of his history I think he would be tough to hire. He just signed a new contact this year with ISU and has turned down coaching gigs with the Jets and Lions in the NFL and he turned down a chance to join Urban Meyer at tOSU when he was there. Not sure in what coaching capacity.

I like the fact that he is a midwest guy and could recruit some cornfed boys with talent for the OLine.

Matt Campbell is my #1
Would LOVE the hire. This is one of the few hires that Id lose my shite in a good way if Woody pulled off
Surprisingly he hasn’t been discussed a ton on here relative to Napier/Kiffin/Fickell/etc…and Campbell is by far the hottest name on the market
