Lange is a deity on the mound, there's no better arm than his on that field. If he was pulled and that shot was hit, you'd be calling for CPM's head.

Not true....I thought the right call was to have Bugg start the 9th. A lot of others felt the same.....if that HR still happens I would not have blamed PM.

PM had to be thinking let Lange start and at the 1st sign of trouble bring in Bugg. Problem is who can account for a PH home run on a belt high fastball by a kid with a bum hammy that hasn't played much? To me the biggest problem was having Lange start that kid off with a fastball. Lange had been living off the knuckle curve most of the game. Should've let that be the first pitch that kid saw.

I asked the same question your OP asked going into the 9th. The best answer I, or anyone else, could give was "who else would you rather be pitching right now." The answer was NOBODY... I don't question the move one bit and wouldn't have if LSU would have lost. The kid earned this chance to complete the game and nobody in the bullpen has earned the right to take it from him at this point.

PM made the correct call.... It didn't work.

Considering the batter he faced in the ninth was on the bench for those 4 runs through the lineup, that wasn't the problem. He left that pitch up in the zone and the batter took advantage of it. It happens when you have thrown as many pitches as he had at that point.

I think the world of PM, couldn't be happier with him as our coach but I could not believe he let Lange come out for the 9th...that was the absolute wrong decision and we were fortunate to get the win...
In his interview he implied he made the wrong decision by saying he felt bad for Lange....

Bug has pitched well...under 2 ERA...Why is everyone so down on our relievers? I would have pulled Lange with 2 outs in the eighth...

No one complained last week when he came out for the 9th.

LSU fans, results based complaints of course.

Lange should not have started the 9th. However, The Rant would've crucified PM if our bullpen gave up that tying run. Would've been saying why not Lange finish it?

We know this is true

Because you're not the coach, if he doesn't throw a fastball down the middle of the plate, the home run never happens. It was a pinch hitter looking for a fastball , geez......

Everyone around me had wtf reactions when he ran out. He gave up 9 hits and his pitch count was high. He fought through the eight but you could see he was pushing. First pitch might as well been a beach ball. If the bullpen can't shut a bad hitting team down in one inning, CWS is going to be over for us quick.

And he served it up on a silver platter.

Just because he threw a complete game last outing doesn't mean you shouldn't pull him for the 9th.

I was on the fence on it. Not mad at Maineri. Maybe when they brought in the lefty pinch hitter I may have gone to Person but I can't say that for sure. Regardless.... saying it was a slam dunk decision makes you sound less than baseball smart. No offense.

Dude, he was at 108 pitches, had been through the lineup 4 times and was hit pretty hard the previous 2 innings. Come'on man!

He was mowing down UNC Wilmington Batters at that pitch count last week. I didn't see this post last Saturday night.
