Very rare, also if you happen to run into the punter its an automatic first down (most of the time). Risk outweighs the reward.

In a word: Fournette

1) Why risk a roughing penalty when we can just run it down their throats after the fair catch.

2) If we did get the block, that would lead to a much shorter drive and less yardage for Fournette.

Someone would have to stop us consistently before we put the punt block back on.

So we can perfect the art of the fair catch.

we went after one that i recall on saturday, Or not really went after, emu just didnt feel like blocking anyone and a player almost got a hand on it standing up. But i do notice the players just kind of contain.

Ok it was quinn, he really should have blocked that one.

Because if you rough the punter the O gets 15 yards, and very likely a 1st down. I wouldn't call it unless I were behind or saw some unique weakness I thought my team could attack.

Quinn could have easily blocked that. It's as if his instinct was to block it and at the last second he thought better of it.

Part of the secret playbook. We are giving our future opponents a false sense of security by showing we don't even attempt to block a punt. But later on in the year, we will catch someone off guard.

This - don't show your hand until you have to. Tight game - late- maybe trailing - then go for it.

because it's easier to shake genital warts than it is to shake Bradley Dale.

when you hire "< mediocre, expect < mediocre."

It's frustrating because for as good as punt ugly is for punt coverage it's just a shitty for punt protection. There's only three guys back there. Send one more and you have a good shot. LSU sets up the return every single time. If you make an effort you can get to the punter when they use the formation everyone uses now. Oklahoma knew LSU used punt ugly and made it a point to block a punt in the championship game. They got one.

A punt block would be less rare if we ever tried to block it. I feel the same way. I never understood why we don't even make the punter feel any pressure.
