WITH four, it would be retarded to ever have two teams from the same conf.! One team in that senerio has already been defeated in the competition to win the NC. All NC's should go through a conference championship if you are in a conference.

look, the 4 team playoff is better than the 2-team BCS championship gaMe, which was better than the poll system.

When the playoff expands to 8 teams (which it absolutely will do), then it will be just about perfect. 5 conference champs get automatic bids and 3 at-large teams. Maybe even have a play-in round for the "other" conference champs.

Arguing about who should be the 8/9 seed is much less painful than 4/5.

sure, but it's a long season with ups and downs, and even the best teams can slip up. One bad game over a 12/13 game season shouldn't necessarily disqualify a team from the playoff.

I realize the NFL is different, but very good teams in that league often lose multiple games, and no one says they aren't deserving to make the playoffs.
